President’s Report
G'day to all members, Once again we saw the dark side of mother nature who decided to show us her other side with a deluge that would have sunk the ark. Our show still went on until we got to a point when the grounds couldn't take much more. Thankyou to all those that helped and competed. No doubt it will be another experience on our show day that we will never forget. Please take note of the change of date for the campdraft/challenge weekend, now 2 weeks later than proposed. An amazing gesture from the estate of Ebony Lodge and Larry Cutler, who have donated a 2 year old horse to the flood relief victims in Qld. Having been a West Gippsland mem-ber the estate felt that this would be a gesture that the late John Whitbread would have loved to have done. It just shows that the Australian spirit is alive and well in our Branch. Good luck to Eliza Jobling who will be representing Victoria in the upcoming Royal Syd-ney Easter Show, having won the Junior Judging Final at Barastoc. Keep in mind that our AGM is approaching fast and all positions will be vacant. If you feel that you have plenty of time up your sleeve and can offer your services and would like to fulfil one of these positions, please nominate because new ideas and input is al-ways welcome. It has been terrific to see many new faces at Stockhorse Events this season. Keep on riding Jason Fry

Some points in regard to the Maiden Series:
A horse had to be a Maiden from Jan 2010 to Dec 2010 to be eligible
(meaning it could be an open horse now but a maiden last year and still
be able to compete)

The Branch AGM will be held on Friday 27th May 2011 at the Longwarry Football Club,
Longwarry Recreation Reserve, Collett Street, Longwarry.
The AGM will commence at 7.00pm.
The Longwarry Football Club will provide the catering as per the Vic Champs. The cost will
be $16.50 per head. Drinks will be available at bar prices.

Well—what can we say about the Branch Show. The branch has certainly experienced all types of weather in the
past few years—from devastating bushfires to torrential rain and flood warnings. As they say, the show must go
on. Thank you to all those riders who competed at the West Gippsland Branch Show on 5th February 2011. The
show started at 8.30am with Gordon Salmond judging the Led Seniors and Hack and Sue Salmond judging the
Led Junior and Working classes. At lunch the committee completed a ground inspection and decided the grounds
were too dangerous and the show was cancelled due to the weather. As we had gotten through a large number of
the classes before lunch, the Hi Point awards were calculated and awarded. The results were as follows:

Due to the torrential rain on the show day, the Branch Show and Challenge
for the kids was rescheduled to Saturday 12th March 2011 at Cannibal Creek
Recreation Reserve. The numbers were down on the original numbers due to
a clash of events.

The West Gippsland Branch Inc Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 27th May 2011 at
Longwarry Football Club Rooms at 7pm.
All Nominations for committee positions must be with the secretary before 20th May 2011
All Nominations must be seconded. They must be signed by the proposer, the seconder and the person nominated.
Nominated members MUST be part of the West Gippsland ASH Branch and hold a current ASH membership.
POSITION BREIF
The West Gippsland Branch encourages any member to hold any position but requests that you be dedicated to our cause and make
yourselves available for meetings, etc.
President – Chair monthly committee meetings, represent branch publically and generally oversee the business of the branch
Vice President – In the absence of the President, temporarily carry out the duties of the president’s position.
Secretary/Public Officer – Take minutes at the meetings and attend to all correspondence and maintain records.
Treasurer – Manage finances and maintain financial records.
Show Secretary – to take care of the running, planning of the Annual Show & Challenge
Campdraft Secretary – to take care of the running, planning of the Annual Campdraft
Newsletter Editor / Publicity Officer – Produces all issue of the newsletter for the year. Organises ads, promotions, etc for the ASH
journal and any other Nominated activities
VMC, ASHLA and junior rider delegates – represents our branch at state and/or national meetings
