Each month in the College calendar has been assigned to one Year group who are then responsible for deciding which charity they would like to support. The Year group organise fund raising activities and in addi-tion the weekly tutor group charity collec-tions go towards the designated charity. So far this academic year the College community have raised £4700 with the fol-lowing charities being recipients of this generosity.
In September £600 was raised for Queen’s Centre for cancer Research and Cell Biology. In October Year 13 support-ed PIPs raising £655 and in November Year 12 took part in Concern’s FAST ap-peal and raised an amazing £1560, mak-ing Wellington College one of the top performing schools in the UK. This amount was also matched by the UK Government, making a total donation of £3120. In De-cember Year 14 organised several fund-raising events including a Christmas
Jumper Day and their annual Christmas Con-cert. They raised an impressive £1200 which was split between the Simon Community and Age NI and in addition the retiring offering at the Christingle Service raised over £500 for NI Hospice. In January Year 11 raised £700 for Pretty in Pink a breast cancer charity. The charity in February was Crohn’s and Colitis UK with final total still to be added up.
