3 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the LordEaster Sunday of the Resurrection of the LordEaster Sunday of the Resurrection of the LordEaster Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 5, 2015April 5, 2015April 5, 2015April 5, 2015
After the long, cold, snowy winter of 2015 and six weeks of Lent, today we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord. As the psalmist says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith, and in professing Jesus’ rising from the dead, we are claiming that death is not the final word on our lives; resurrection is. In staking our lives on Jesus’ triumph over the grave, we are pro-claiming that sacrificial love is more powerful, more enduring than a cruel death. We are also saying that in Christ, there is always light at the end of our darkest tunnel, because his love endures forever. Just like na-ture experiences death every winter, and as a result the landscape becomes barren and frozen, buried for a pe-riod of time under mounds of snow; Christ once suf-fered and died, and was buried under the earth for three days. But just as nature comes to life again in springtime, when color reappears on our landscape as the temperatures rise, the grass grows and the buds blossom; Christ rose from the grave into a new and glo-rious life, and opened the gateway to heaven for all of us. In St. Mark’s account of the resurrection, after the Sabbath Mary Magdalene and two other women go to Jesus’ tomb with spices to anoint his body properly. They are met by a young man clothed in a white robe who announces to the women: “Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.” Then this angelic witness instructs the women to go and tell Peter and the other disciples that they will see the risen Lord in Galilee. In a real way, this is our mandate today. To go out to our world today and share the good news of the resurrection by letting people see Jesus in our patient, sacrificial love; in our forgiving heart; and in our humble service to God and our neigh-bor. Since we have died and risen with Christ through the water of baptism, we have assumed the responsibil-ity of bearing witness to Christ every day. May the ris-en Lord grant us the grace to live the good news of a world redeemed by the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, and so contribute to a spiritual springtime in our Church!
News and Notes: News and Notes: News and Notes: News and Notes: Many thanks to all our Pastoral Team members and parishioners who helped in any way to make our celebration of the Easter Triduum so beauti-ful! Additional thanks to all the parishioners from both Our Lady’s and St. Maria Goretti’s for contributing to the Winter Relief Collection to help us pay our astro-nomically high bills for snow/ice removal and leaks

leaks during the past two months. We are still grate-fully accepting donations to help us reduce the deficit we have incurred because of the severe winter weath-er. Also here is the latest update on our performance in the 2015 Catholic Appeal: As of March 24, SMG pa-rishioners had pledged $11,270 which is 40% of their goal of $28,078; OLA parishioners had donated $22,030 which is 40% of their goal of $55,512. Please consider a generous pledge to this annual Offertory Collection in our local Church which supports the 50+ Central Ministries that serve so many noble purposes such as lay, diaconal and priestly formation, and the Office of New Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults. Fr. Tony and I, together with our whole Pasto-ral Team, wish you much joy and peace throughout the upcoming Easter Season!

At Easter, we honor and thank our 628 priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. Our priests celebrate our joys, comfort us in times of crisis or sorrow, and are there during the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life. Together, they represent thousands of years of dedicat-ed service to Christ and to all of us. Remember the priests who have made a meaningful difference in your life, and consider honoring him/them with a generous gift to the collection this Easter. On behalf of the priests who have devoted their lives to serving the Church, thank you for your prayers and generous sup-port.
The weekly collections are being publicized on the website. Please go to lynnfieldcatholic.org then click on Parish Finances under Parish Life, then click on the link for Weekly Offertory.

Less than four months ago we sang about the Baby in the manger, today we sing about the Risen Lord. Pay attention to the Responsorial Psalm: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” A great evangelization tool is a smile. We have been saved - all of us. Isn’t that a good reason to smile? Joy is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, embrace it!
