Our Timetable

• Focus on comprehension as well as reading strategies

• Guided Reading – once with class teacher every week, other children doing reading activities

• Individual readers: Miss Gunduzler or Miss Day to listen to everyone once a week

• Children are responsible for changing their books and noting what they have read in their reading records (at least 4 as part of home learning)

• Reading race – monthly: Share what you have read by putting a ‘reading note’ up on the reading board for the chance to win a book.

Reading

Spelling – weekly with a focus on a spelling pattern•Children will be given a new set of spellings following a pattern each week•Opportunity to practise every morning during early morning activities•Test on Friday (some words from the list, others that follow the same pattern)

• Sent home every Tuesday• To be handed in every Monday• Writing, maths and topic work to be recorded

in books• Reading entries to go in reading record• Extension task does not have to be done• Independent work where possible
