MATCH REPORTS: First Team –
Toss: Edmonton won the Toss and choose to bowl first
Wycombe House: 251 all out (Mehboob 114)
Edmonton: 123 all out in 34 overs (Sohail, Alex & Mehboob all taking 3 wkts each)
Result: Wycombe House won by 128 runs MOM: Mehboob for a brilliant Hundred and 3 wickets Mehboob Shines with the bat to keep House in the title race
On another scorching day on Jersey Road, Wycombe House faced Edmonton knowing a win will keep them in the title race. Edmonton won the toss and surprisingly put Wycombe house into bat on another flat deck at the House. And Wycombe House made the most and got off to a flyer. Opening bat Jalal Uddin set the tone as he set about the bowlers smashing a quick fire 38. After he went Mehboob Elahi and young Savin Perera continued the onslaught. The two left handers blazed the ball to all parts in an exhilarating 130 run partnership. Savin went for a fantastic 45 while Mehboob Elahi punished the bowlers some more and was finally dismissed for a fantastic 114. The remaining batsman chipped in to take Wycombe house to 251 all out off just 43 overs.
In reply skipper Alex Thamby and Zahid Ahmed probed away with the new ball – initially with no luck until the 10
th over when Alex Thamby found the magic ball – And wickets started to tumble. 45 for zero soon became
50 for 3 as Thamby took 3 in quick succession. And then it was time for spin as the Elahi spin twins got in on the act. The left arm spinners Sohail and Mehboob were unplayable as they picked up 3 a piece to dismiss Edmonton for 128 and secure a valuable 10 points for Wycombe House.
Mehboob after scoring a fantastic 114

Toss: South Hampstead won the toss
Wycombe House: 223 all out in 48.2 overs
Wembley: 135-8 in 49 overs Result: Winning Draw – 4 points MOM: Bilal H Chaudhry (88 runs) Weather: alright, some sunny spells and it rained once. Got to wembley and the track was green. After loosing the toss and putting us in to bat. Both Bilal's got off to an amazing start with a 119 run opening partnership. With Bilal H Chaudhry hungry for runs he top scored on a wicket not comfortable to bat on. Everyone chipped in with Bilal M CH getting 36 and super sonic Shezzy with a very important 25 to tip us into the 200's. 2nd innings: Bowling performances by Naved saw him get 3 wickets and a very efficient bowling attack by Bilal M CH saw him get 2 wickets. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be as the Wembley batsman chose to play the Ashes test cricket and block out all avenues of getting wickets. Ended up with a winning draw. Performance of the game goes to Bilal H CH...who played beautifully for his 88 which some real classy shots all around the ground and it was not just slog after slog it was a clever innings, finding the gaps in the field and was unlucky not to go on and get a hundred but he’s now got 2 fifties in the last 3 weeks and now his aim should be to go on and get a hundred!! Third Team – WHCC 3s v/s Old Actonians 3s Venue: Boston Manor Toss: Old Act's won the toss and choose to field first WHCC: 274-8 in 40.5 overs (declared) Old Actonians: 142-9 in 51 overs Result: WHCC gets a winning draw (4 points)
Report: On what was initially an overcast day, turned out to be fairly sunny and dry day. WHCC 3rd XI went into their home game against Old Act's Boston Manor being on top of the league and were keen to stay on top. the day started not that well for the 3rd XI skipper when he lost the toss and was asked to bat first. WHCC openers Ash and Janaka went into open the batting and after getting their eye in for a few overs, started to take the bowlers on. On what was a fantastic batting wicket, Janaka made full use of the short leg side boundary and hit a lot of boundaries on his way to a great 40. Ash Vyas fell on the other end and Gaurav came in at number 3. After he got away with a very close LBW shout, he made full use of his chance and smashed 66 in no time with many boundaries and a few sixes. After Janaka fell, Vasi came in at 4 and was in T20 mode from the offset and launched every bowler that came in to bowl. Him and Guarav had a good part of over 100 run partnership. Then after they fell, the lower order continued with aggression and AB, Blake, Yahya finished the innings off and we declared on a very imposing 274-8 in 40.5 overs. After the teas break, the bowlers came out with full confidence in order to make early inroads into the Old Act's top order, but as Old Act's decided early in their innings that they will play out for a draw, they were not taking many chances. Yahya was not at his very best and seemed to be trying too hard to take a wicket and in the process for the first time this season failed to take even 1 wicket. Vasi and Gaurav tried their best to take wickets and were getting regular breakthroughs. They took 4 wickets each with Sachin taking 1 wicket from his 6 overs. However their tail wagged for a bit too long for WHCC liking, and they managed to play out their 51 overs without losing all their 10 wickets. WHCC 3s were heartbroken but did give it their best to take 10 points and stay on top. In the end it wasn't meant to be. Enfield won their match against bessborough and now sit 4 points above WHCC 3s. This week a massive game against Bessborough and the 3s need no less than 10 points to get themselves back on the leader board.

TOSS: WHCC lost the toss Fulmers : 228 off 40 overs WHCC: 162 all out So the newly started Wycombe House 4th XI were again up against a very good team in Fulmers. Both captain exchanged hand shakes and proceed with the toss! Me being lucky with tosses (leaveit), won the toss and selected to bowl first!
So off we went and Ash and Luke getting us on the way...with Luke bowling some quality fast deliveries and Ash keeping his line and length on point the opening bats struggled! Luke was unlucky not to pick up a wicket with all the edges we was getting! On the other hand ash bowled a beauty just outside off which lured the batsman in to play and go straight in Manu hands!
After the first wicket fell, they began to score slightly more than we had hopes so I decided to change the bowling up by bringing two class spinners on. Both bowlers were unlucky with Hashim only picking one wicket up. Fulmers were now just under 200 for 2 and it was getting slight nervous for me so I decided to bring on myself and Marvin! We both bowled well with Marvin picking up 2 and myself with 3. End of 40 overs - target - 228 So with a up hill battle and not the strongest batting side I decided to open with Azfar and Arman. Arman was unlucky and was out for a duck and Azfar...well...tried to wallop a straight good length ball and got bowled, with shortly after Hamza returning to the pavilion. So we are 3 down for 2 runs and this was a captains nightmare, with thoughts of how will I show my face at Wycombe house if we get out under 50 runs...and that at that point 50 looked a good score. So on goes Manu and Loraib, a kid who I asked before going out if he can bat, said..."well I've improved from last year", and boy has be improved!!!! Him and Manu together get over 100 run partnership! Manu batted a respectable 43 with Loraib with an outstanding 71! The rest of the batsman chipping in we managed to get to a very respectable score of 162.
Players of the day - THE WHOLE TEAM
P.S......Just a quick thank you to Denis and Alex for letting me captain the 4s. Had a great time and enjoyed every bit of it!!! THAMBY WATCH YOUR BACK!!!

League Game Venue: Wycombe House Toss: WHCC won the toss and chose to bat first WHCC: 239-9 in 40 overs Crick XI: 245-5 in 39.2 overs Result: Crick XI won by 5 wickets Report: Sunday 1st XI came to the home of cricket on a great sunny day to play their league game against a very good Crick XI side. WHCC after a long time were fielding a pretty strong Sunday XI with Club Captain Burdett and 1st Team spin king Mehboob Elahi in the team to make their Sunday debut for 2014. Burdett and Hanif were sent to open and they got WHCC off to a flying start. Running between the wickets at this pace was never seen in WHCC history before specially in a Sunday Game. They got us to a fantastic start before Burdett was out with the score on 70. Shezzi walked in and kept up with the run rate. WHCC were flying high with runs coming in from everyone who was going in. Shezzi, Hanif, Savin, Vasi, Mehboob, Shah, Ash, Bilal all chipped in and the total got to a very decent 239 after 40 overs. The new ball after the break was shared between Sachin and Vasi and both bowled good areas however the Crick XI batsman came out with a plan which was to go out and attack. And so they did taking on all the bowlers with sheer aggression. Chances were given but not held. Vasi, Sachin, Shah all were taken to the cleaners. The only bowlers which were hard to get away were Savin and Mehboob Elahi. all others were smashed to all parts. Crick XI in the end after a very hard fought game, went through to the target with 4 balls to spare. WHCC Sunday boys were shell shocked and it all went down to one thing, which was Catching. If we would have held onto our chances in the field, the result would have been very different. Well 2 more league games to go and need to win both of them to stay middle of the table.
Sunday 2
nd Team:
High Wycombe: 280-6 off 40 overs WHCC: 237 all out in 40 overs Result: High Wycombe won by 43 runs So off we went for another trek down the North Circular and I was given 12 players which was strange so Jessal kindly offered to sit it out and still came and drive us and support the boys! So lost the toss and they decided to have a bat, we were raring to go when Hashim comes out with: “Oh no, my mums taken my cricket boots!!!” “And I’ve only got my plimsolls to wear??” Luckily Ash was on hand to save the day as he had a spare pair of boots to spare Hashim’s blushes!! We opened up with Ash and Blake and they started off hesitantly with Blake going unlucky on a few occasions with their captain slashing through third man a few times to the frustration of the youngster.
Blake then picks up a wicket and so does Ash but at the same time the oppo were going at a decent scoring rate! Humzah came on and picked up a wicket with an absolute jaffer & skittled the batsmens poles! Winchmore were 3 down but now their Saturday second Team batsman came to the crease and he was a decent bat who played himself in and played a top knock to then build a partnership with the bat at the other end and we then struggled with our fielding and bowling and probably were at least one if not two bowlers short. They scored close to 160 off the final 20 overs and in the end they probably got 40 too many for our liking at half time. So we opened up with Karl & Armaan Toor you both looked comfortable until Syvlie chipped one back to the bowler. But Armaan continued to play his shots all around the wickets with no slogs with some lovely back foot punches through cover with some superb timing! AB was unfortunately given LBW even though he middled it into his pads – not a happy bunny with Ash and we had to hold them back at the end of the game!! Ha!! Logan came in at number 4 and shortly after that Armaan fell to a very good 48 and the youngster was unlucky but didn’t get hold of the shot fully. Then Logan and Alex put a quality partnership of 80 to put the opposition on the back foot and to get us in sight of a possible great run chase. We then needed to up the run rate, but then there was confusion with the scoreboard and when we thought there was 12 over left to go and in fact there was only 9 and myself and Logan both got out going for big hits and Blake came in for a quick cameo, with some cheeky reverse sweeps but then with a few boundaries we lost wickets at the same time! But I thought it was a great effort inn the run chase with a very young & inexperienced side out against a county division side & I was quite impressed with some of our promising youngsters.
Logan Cullen scored a brilliant 56
Colts: A quick mention for our under 15’s who won their cup quarter final on Wednesday night at home and our little master Savin Perera smashed a quite brilliant hundred in 20 overs. Watch out for this little man he’s certainly one for the future...........(see below)
