JANUARY 5, 2020 EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
Individuals gave of their time on Christmas Eve to serve food to the poor and homeless
in the Hardeeville area during our first annual “Feed the Hungry" event held at Mercy
Mission. Monsignor Cellini blessed all the wonderful volunteers who decorated the
room with Christmas fare. Sister Mary Gerald and Sister Mary Frances of Mercy Mission
and other parishioners were on hand to serve a hot meal as well as sit and talk with
them. We served about 60 folks and boxed up another 40 meals that were delivered to
the local motels. Thank you to John Paul II Catholic School students and families who
provided Christmas gift bags that were given and a big thank you to all those who
helped make this a successful event for the needy in our community.
Thank you and God bless, Msgr Cellini and Karen

JANUARY 5, 2020 EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
Servimos a unas 60 personas y
Cellini y Karen

JANUARY 5, 2020 EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
COMING SOON!
Several years ago, our parish began to have special eve-
nings, entitled, “Amazing Grace and Dinner, Too”. We
would meet in the parish family center (next to our chap-
el) and begin a talk about topics that touched our lives
and faith. After the talk, we would sit together and share
a meal and the pleasure of being together. There was a
nominal cost for dinner. While soft drinks were provid-
ed, parishioners could bring beverages of their choice.
We are happy to continue these special evenings with
two dates set for our newest topic about “wisdom”.
Please mark your calendars for Friday, January 24, 2020
and February 21, 2020 at 5 p.m. in the parish family
center. Dinner immediately follows our talk so that we
can grow wise together!!!
SHARING THE WISDOM OF TIME
Wisdom is a virtue, a gift, that has been sought
after throughout the centuries. We can recognize it in oth-
ers and sometimes even in ourselves. We seek to be wise
when we are trying to answer new questions or when we
are sorting out the more important things of life from the
lesser. Pope Francis felt this subject was so important, that
in his prayer, he was inspired to shine a light on this gift
and the vital role that we, in later life, can share.
In a new book entitled, Sharing the Wisdom of
Time, over 250 letters from people currently living around
the world were collected to tell their wisdom stories. Pope
Francis responds to these letters with reflections from his
own life.
We welcome you to join us for an evening of sto-
rytelling and conversation about how we foster the deep-
er understanding of wisdom in our lives today.
God, thank you for a new year. May everyone in our family be willing to begin anew with a clean slate. We know that you are always ready to forgive us. Help us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one
another.
As we begin a new year, remind us of our truest val-ues and our deepest desires. Help us to live in the
goodness that comes from doing what you want us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so that we might live in peace with you now,
one day at a time.
