As an FE student you may be eligible for assistance from one or more of the following sources of finance:

• Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)• Further Education Grant• Hardship Fund • Care to Learn Scheme NI• Free School Meals• Travel assistance/Bus Passes

• BUS PASSES• Translink will allow students to travel free for the first 3 weeks

and a further 2 weeks on production of a Translink interim bus pass.

• Bus passes will be available for collection at your campus reception from week beginning 14th September 2020.

• If you have not received your bus pass during the first 3 weeks at College i.e. by Friday 18th September 2020, you must go to your local Translink office directly and request an interim bus pass which will permit travel up to and including Friday 2nd

October 2020.

• FREE SCHOOL MEALS• Free meal tickets are available from Campus Services on

production of your SRC Student ID Card.

• CARE TO LEARN SCHEME• If you're a parent aged between 16 and 20 andstudying at a further education college, the Care toLearn (NI) Scheme could help towards your childcarecosts. You can apply for financial help if you expectto become a parent during your course.

• To assist with childcare costs for student/parents• Full-time or Part-time Students• Forms available from Campus Services

Students must meet residency requirements to receive financial help.

Learning Support

Learning Support is available to assist students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who require additional support whilst studying in SRC. Learning support can include:

• Classroom based support • Mentoring & notetaking • Special exam arrangements (extra time, reader, scribe)• Assistive technology loan (laptops, recording and reading pens)

How to apply for additional learning supportPlease complete the Learning Support Referral Form available on the SRC website and return to the Learning Support Co-ordinator in your campus of study. Once you have submitted this form, a member of the Learning Support team will be in contact with you to arrange a meeting to discuss your learning needs and the support that can be provided.Information on Learning support is available on the SRC website:

Evidence requirements For all students who have learning support needs the Learning Support Co-ordinator will require the following information which will assist with assessing your support needs and with putting appropriate support in place :

A copy of any evidence indicating your learning difficulty/disability or medical condition for example:• Statement of Educational Needs• Medical evidence e.g. from a consultant, CAMHS, Occupational Therapist • Psychologist’s Report• Speech and Language Assessment

Please ask your current education provider for this information so that it is available for you to bring to your Learning Support Co-ordinator

Special Examination Support

If you have been permitted exam arrangements such as extra time or a reader in your previous school and will be sitting exams here at the college, an application must be made to the Awarding Body at the beginning of the exam series.

If your previous school has organised special exam arrangements for you; Learning Support staff in SRC will contact the examination office in your school and request the following documents so that an application can be made for exams taking place in SRC.

• original signed ‘Form 8’ • and a copy of the application approval from the exam board• copies of any specialist literacy assessment if available in school

You are required to contact your Learning Support Co-ordinator if you will need examination support in SRC
