We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclu-sion in any form. At the same time, we have to recognize that violence is self-destructive and self-defeating. Nothing is gained by violence and so much is lost. Let us pray for reconciliation and peace.

IMPORTANT

Even though we have reopened the parish, we will be taken this time as a time of evaluation to see if we are implementing the nec-essary procedures to safeguard the well-being of all. We will start to distribute the Holy Eucharist this weekend, please follow the Ushers and instructions to receive the Communion. Please remember masks on at all times, except for receiving the Holy Eucharist. Hand sanitizer before receiving, then mask back on and back to the pew you were sitting in. Thank you for adher-ing to the safety guidelines we put in place. The third weekend of June our Seminarian Carlos Francisco Ardi-la Navia, is being ordained as a transitional deacon for our dio-cese. He will be celebrating his mass of thanksgiving here on Sat-urday (June 20, 2020). Please keep Carlos in your thoughts and prayers as he prepares to become a Deacon. Also let us congratu-late him on his participation and accomplishments here at St. An-thony of Padua. Other events on this day will be announced.

SAVE THE DATE:

On Saturday, June 27, Bishop Robert Joseph McManus will be visiting our parish as we celebrate the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, and also the 50th Anniversary of the Dudley’s Church building foundation. Depending on the restrictions we have at that time; because of the pandemic, attendance will be limited. Specification of all these events will announced, published and explained in great detail.

The Sacraments

a Path of Grace

Catechesis. 5. The Sacraments: Overview

We have already talked about the sacraments as a path of

grace God’s embracement. We have also covered a general in-troduction to our exploration; it is time for us to get a little more specific.

The sacraments of the new law are seven: Baptism, Confir-mation, the Eucharist, Penance, the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments in Christian life.

The Church has arranged the sacraments in three main groups: sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), sacraments of healing (Penance and anointing of the sick), and the sacraments at the service of communion and the mission of the faithful (Holy orders and matrimony). Thus, through the sacraments God initiates us on his mystery, heals and restores us, and calls us to serve.

The sacraments of initiation, Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, unite us to the Paschal Mystery and incorporate us into the Church; the Mystical Body of Christ.

Baptism: The sacrament of Baptism…

Incorporates us into Christ and forms us into God's people. Erases original sin, and pardons all our sins. Makes us children of God.

Confirmation:

The sacrament of confirmation…

Signs us with the gift of the Spirit.

Makes us more completely the image of the Lord and fills us

with the Holy Spirit.

Prepares us to evangelize.

The Holy Eucharist

In the celebration of the Holy Eucharist…

We eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man so

that we may have eternal life and show forth the unity of

God’s people.

We offer ourselves with Christ; we share in the universal

sacrifice of Christ.

We come into a deeper union with Christ and with my broth-

ers and sisters in the Lord.

The three sacraments of Christian initiation to bring us to his

full stature and to enable us to carry out the mission of the en-

tire people of God in the Church and in the world.

Four key words to remember: Initiation, Baptism, Holy Eu-

charist, and confirmation.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ: First of all, I would like to express how wonderful it is to have you back in church. Even though I still believe it is early for this step, it is something that brings a lot of joy to my heart, being that I do not have to talk to just a camera. I would like to thank all of you for your patience and the great support you have been to your spiritual home of Saint Anthony of Padua. The parish’s life, its vibran-cy and its vigor depend on how involved each one of us is, and how strong our identity is with this community parish. As we continue to advance in battling this pandemic and recovering from it, I would like to offer some changes in the Mass schedule. These changes will last only for the duration of the pandemic. We might go back to the normal schedule only after everything goes back to normal. In the meantime, I beg you to be patient and flexi-ble with the different changes. After the Parish re-opens its door for public Masses, we will proceed as follows:

1. On Saturdays, there will be two (2) Masses- the 4 PM Mass, which is going to be live streamed and the 7 PM Mass.

2. On Sundays, there will be two (2) Masses- the 8 AM Mass and 11 AM Mass. The 11 AM will be live streamed.

3. The Masses on Sundays at 2 PM and 5 PM are cancelled. If we see that the number of people increases, we might reopen the 5 PM Mass on Sundays.

4. Please, try to arrive ahead of time. The doors will be closed and locked before the Masses stars.

5. For the Masses on the weekends, please, call the office between Wednesday and Fri-day from 8 AM to 1 PM and reserve the Mass that you would like to attend, giving us the number of people who will come with you.

6. When arriving at church, please, wear your masks before leaving your cars until you return to it.

7. Upon entering the church, please, allow the ushers to guide you to the place where you are to sit. They will give you the best spot in which we can practice the social distancing required.

8. Masses during the week will be celebrated with the regular schedule from Monday through Thursday at 7:30 AM. There will not be ushers for the weekday Masses, however, help us to keep social distance by sitting as far as possible away from each other.

9. The Tuesday Mass at 7 PM will NOT be celebrated for now, until further notice. 10. Exposition of the Blessed sacrament will be back on Tuesdays from 8 AM until

Noon ( during pandemic time). Furthermore, the door will be opened for those visi-tors who want to stop by and have a personal encounter with the person of Jesus Christ, real and present in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. We kindly ask you to please wear a mask at all times and sit where the blue Crosses are in the pews.

Page 7: Welcome to REGULAR MASS SCHEDULE St. …...2020/06/14  · Estrella Pacheco Castro Christian Mauricio Tabarez Bravo. Pauline & Joseph Donat & Irene F Freschette by Family Monday June

11. The distribution of Holy Communion will be resumed at the Feast of Corpus Christi. When it is time for you to receive Holy Communion, the ushers will lead you to receive the Precious Body. This is the only time you will approach the sanctuary without a mask on. Be attentive to another usher (and sometimes the same one) who is going to give you hand sanitizer before receiving the Consecrated Host (the Precious Body of Jesus). Please, consume Holy Communion before leaving the line.

12. We highly recommend receiving Holy Communion in your hand. Receiving in your mouth will slow down the flow of people in line and will decrease the prevention of any kind of contagion.

13. After Holy Communion, go back to your seats that were assigned to you from the be-ginning and put your masks back on. Please do not change places to a different seat.

14. We kindly ask you to wait for the ushers or someone in charge to open the doors for you after the dismissal song. Let us help you to reduce the risks of contagion.

15. If you want to bring your offering, baskets are located at every entrance and you can drop it off on your way in or out.

16. Please, AVOID stopping or BLOCKING the doors to have conversations. This will de-crease the interference of the congregations’ leaving after Masses.

15. Furthermore, avoid having conversations as you leave the church. According to doctors and researchers, masks may reduce, but not prevent one hundred percent, the possibility of contagion.

Dear brethren: All these preventative measures are not being implemented with the purpose of making things more difficult. Instead, they are being implemented with you and your well being in mind. We are striving to strengthen your spiritual lives; but protecting your spiritual lives includes caring for your physical lives. As your administrator, it is my duty before Holy Mother Church, Bishop McManus and before God to protect your integrity, meaning your bodies and souls together. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Let us all remain united in prayer, asking our Heavenly Father to bring an end to the pandemics that are affecting us. The Covid-19 that is causing so many people to struggle, the pandemic of racism that is bringing instability, hatred, sadness, division, torture, segregation, and death to our society, the pandemic of indifference that is making people think about themselves and what will benefit them and not the common good. Moreover, this pandemic of indifference is preventing us from addressing many injustices. People with cold and stony hearts are allowing others to act with imprudence and lack of charity and love in their hearts. Do not let the COVID-19 or any other pandemic (social, spiritual, or personal) to use you as instru-ments of division, fear and death. Do not let the personal business of some make you the means to their ends.. Only the devil, what is demonic, would use us for whatever produces darkness, fear, division, and meaningless death. As Christ taught us: do not pay back evil for evil. Injustice, hatred, racism, or any other social pan-demic that shatters society can only be changed with education, with honesty, with equality, with respect, with love, with charity, with prudence… in other words, BEING other CHRISTS for this our society which is so broken, so harmed, so fragile, so divided. May God Bless us all. Fr. Daniel Moreno

Bishop Robert McManus issued the following statement regarding the death of George Floyd and public protests: "Justice cannot be served when the fundamental dignity of a per-son is not respected. The ugly reality of racism which was demon-strated in the brutal treatment of Mr. George Floyd cannot be toler-ated because we are all humanly diminished when we are not out-raged at the mistreatment of others because of the color of their skin." "As the representatives of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops stated, 'We serve a God of love, mercy and justice.' To serve jus-tice, we must not tolerate these atrocities in society. Yet our pro-tests must be peaceful so that we may demonstrate respect for all people not just by our words but by our actions. This weekend saw many police and others in authority standing side by side with those who voiced their outrage in peaceful marches. Our vision for a just and humane society must be embraced by everyone. May our actions, our words and our hearts be focused on making that dream a reality." Most Reverend Robert J. McManus June 1, 2020

Religious Freedom Week will be cele-brated in dioceses nationwide from June 22 to June 29. Throughout the week we will focus on the importance of preserving the essential right of reli-gious freedom, both now and in the fu-ture, for Catholics and all people of faith. This year’s theme is “For the

Good of All”. The significant feast days during the week (Saints Thomas More and John Fisher – June 22, Saint John the Baptist – June 24, and Saints Peter and Paul – June 29) inspire us to follow the example of these great saints who loved God above all and remained faithful in the face of adversity. Please visit www.usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek to down-load the “Pray-Reflect-Act” one-pagers for each day on various religious liberty topics. These excellent resources are intended to inspire us to learn more about religious liberty from a Catholic perspective, help us to pray about particular issues, and provide us with tools to act on what we learn. Additional information can be found at www.worcesterdiocese.org/religiousfreedomweek.

1. Where charity and love prevail,

there God is ever found;

Brought here together by Christ’s love,

by love are we thus bound.

2. With grateful joy and holy fear

His charity we learn;

Let us with heart and mind and soul

now love him in return.

3. Forgive we now each other’s faults as we our faults confess; And let us love each other well in Christian holiness.

4. Let strife among us be unknown,

let all contention cease;

Be His the glory that we seek,

be ours His holy peace.

5. Let us recall that in our midst

dwells God’s begotten Son;

As members of His body joined,

we are in Him made one.

5. No race or creed can love exclude, if honored be God’s name; Our family embraces all whose Father is the same.

WHERE CHARITY AND LOVE PREVAIL
