What to wear and bring to nursery

What to do if my child is ill

Gym Shoes

Once a week children go to the gym

hall which requires them to wear gym

shoes.

Wellington Boots

These are necessary for outside play all year! We

recommend that a labelled pair be left in nursery

if possible.

Spare Clothes

Please provide a labelled bag containing a

complete change of labelled spare clothes to keep

in nursery in case of any accidents.

Jacket/Coat

We aim to go outside most days. It can be chilly in the playground whatever the season so children will need a suitable jacket, plus hat and gloves when appropriate. In hot weather please provide a sun hat

and apply suncream.

Learning is a fun and messy business and from time to time your child’s clothes may get dirty so please don’t send your child to nursery in good clothes! Aprons are provided to protect clothing during messier

play activities. You can buy a nursery sweatshirt from the school office at a cost of £10.

If your child is unable to come to school for any reason, please email or phone the school to let us know

as soon as you can.

The school number is 01343 812251,

email [email protected].

If your child is not in school and we have not heard from you, we will phone the numbers we have availa-

ble to us to find out why they are not in attendance.

If your child is unwell with sickness or diarrhoea then they must remain at

home for 48hours after the last bout of illness.

Please keep the school updated with any changes to telephone numbers.

St Gerardine School Nursery

Library We would love if you could afford some time to help

us run our nursery library.

We need parents who are willing to help once a week

on a Friday for half an hour at the end of the nursery

sessions to help children choose a book.

If you would like to be involved please give your name

to the nursery staff so that we can start to draw up a

rota of volunteers for the new session. Many thanks

Nursery Parent Focus Group The Nursery Parent Focus group helps us to review

our provision, organise help for activities and under-

take fundraising activities. In session 2013/14, the

group looked at our Outdoor Play provision and of-

fered lots of great ideas and support to help us im-

prove.

If you would like to be part of this group who meet

once or twice a term, please let a member of staff

know. An invitation to attend the first meeting will go

out early in the new term.

We’re on the Web! If you’d like to see we’ve been up to in Nursery , have a look at St Gerardine’s website:

www.st-gerardine.moray.sch.uk

Parent Council/ Fundraising Group As a parent of St Gerardine Nursery you are entitled

to join our Parent Council Meetings which are held in

the evening once or twice a term.

This is a great opportunity to meet other parents.

The Parent Council has an important role to play in the

school. This body ensures that you have a say in your

child’s education. The head teacher attends the meet-

ings and will explain the improvements and develop-

ments which are taking place in school. This is your

chance to input into this.

The Fund Raising Group also plays an important role in

helping to fundraise for the school. This extra funding

enables school trips to take place, and extra re-

sources and equipment to be bought for your child.

In session 2013/14 the Parent Council very kindly do-

nated money for us to build a large scale sandpit. They

also provided funds for a TV screen to display photos

in our Welcome Room.

Please come along to the meetings which are friendly

and informal.

Keeping in touch Please check your child’s tray regularly. If you have

requested to receive school newsletters by email, you

will not then receive a paper copy.

In nursery we will:

send home a weekly diary detailing what the chil-

dren have learned each week and upcoming events.

Issue termly newsletters

Update our website regularly and will highlight on

the notice board when this is done (see below for

address)

Update our notice boards regularly.

Please let us know if we have missed something or

use the suggestion box to tell us how to improve.

Parent helpers

If you would like to become a parent helper in

nursery, please mention to a member of staff who will

give you a PVG form to complete and return to school.

We use helpers in lots of different ways from accom-

panying on trips, to helping set up or run activities.
