Try the Backyard Orchard Culture technique of planting multiple trees (an early, a mid, and a late variety) in one hole, and enjoy a summer-long harvest! APRIUMS®, PLUOTS®, NECTAPLUMS & PEACOTUMS® These fruits are complex hybrids of apricots, peaches, nectarines, and plums. The complex, intense flavor of both the Aprium® and the Pluot® is unique to interspecifics, much like a blend of fruit juices where the mixture is an improvement over any of the separate ingredients. FLAVOR GRENADE PLUOT Plum apricot hybrid. Elongated green fruit with a red blush. Crisp texture and explosive flavor. Taste test winner. Holds well on the tree. Chilling <300-400. Pollinated by Flavor King Pluot, Dapple Dandy Pluot, Emerald Drop Pluot, or Santa Rosa Plum.

FLAVOR KING PLUOT Plum apricot hybrid. Taste test winner. Great aroma, and sweet spicy flavor. Reddish purple skin, crimson flesh. Naturally a small tree. Chilling < 400-500. Pollinated by Dapple Dandy, or Santa Rosa.

SPLASH PLUOT Plum apricot hybrid. Small to medium sized orange fruit with very sweet orange flesh. Excellent fresh or dried. Upright tree sets large crops when established. Chilling <400 hours. Pollinated by Santa Rosa Plum or Flavor Grenade Pluot.

APPLES

ANNA Heavy crops of sweet, crisp, flavorful apples. Yellow skinned blushed with red. An excellent variety for mild winter areas. Good fresh or cooked. Chilling <200 hours. Self fruitful, or use Golden Dorsett for bigger crops.

DORSETT GOLDEN Outstanding sweet apple for mild winter areas. Firm and very flavorful, similar to Golden Delicious. Yellow skinned, with a blush of orange. Best pollinator for Anna Apple. Chilling <100 hours. Self fruitful.

FUJI Recently introduced from Japan. Excellent apple, sweet and crunchy. Yellow with reddish orange blush. Great for eating fresh. Chilling <500 hours. Self fruitful.

GALA This apple originates in New Zealand. It has shiny red striped skin, crisp sweet flesh with excellent flavor. Chilling <500 hours. Self fruitful.

GRANNY SMITH This variety comes from New Zealand. Bright green skin and firm tart flesh. Excellent for baking. Will do best inland, where it gets hot. Chilling <400 hours. Self fruitful.

PINK LADY New introduction from Western Australia. Very crisp, sweet-tart flesh that resists browning. Skin is reddish pink over green when ripe. Chilling < 300-400 hours. Self fruitful.

AUTUMN GLO Medium to large oval shaped fruit. Tremendous flavor scores very high in taste tests. Will fruit best inland, where winters are a bit cooler. Chilling <500 hours. Self fruitful.

GOLD KIST Excellent backyard apricot for warm climates. Freestone, very good quality, and heavy bearing. Early harvest. Should fruit consistently in our area. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

TROPIC GOLD Medium to large, yellow with orange cheek. Firm, juicy, excellent tasting flesh. Bears heavily in mild winter areas. Good for fresh eating or canning. Chilling <350 hours. Self fruitful.

MINNIE ROYAL Medium sized red sweet cherry; firm with good flavor. Tree is very productive, with a low chill requirement. Mainly used as a pollizer for Royal Lee. Chilling <300 hours. Pollinated by Royal Lee.

DOUBLE DELIGHT Sensational fruit, one of the best. Bright red skin, with unusually rich flavored yellow flesh. This tree doubles as an ornamental tree with beautiful double pink blooms. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

LATE LE GRAND Old favorite yellow fleshed nectarine, and still one of the best. Yellow flesh, with red blushed skin. Great late variety for inland areas that get a bit cooler in the winter. Chilling <500-600 hours. Self fruitful.

PANAMINT Attractive red skinned yellow fleshed freestone. Aromatic, intensely flavored, nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Dependable producer for our area. Chilling <250 hours. Self fruitful.

COMICE Popular gift pack pear. Sweet, aromatic, fine texture and superb flavor. Short neck, with yellow skin blushed with red. Late harvest. Chilling <200-300 hours. Best if pollinated with another pear.

MOONGLOW Large brownish green skin resembling Bartlett. Soft juicy flesh, nearly free of grit cells. Good flavor, low in acid. Resistant to fireblight. Chilling <500 hours. Needs another pear as a pollinator.
