Dress smart
Because the computers heat up the room, the air will kick on from time to time in the lab. Get a
sweater or sweatshirt and keep it in your
lockers so that you won’t have to freeze!
How to care for your computer
Food, candy, gum, beverages?
Your monitor (screen)• DO NOT ever touch
the screen (using your hands or any other object)
• DO NOT move your monitor to any position other than straight ahead.
• Leave monitors on unless instructed otherwise by the teacher.
Your disk drives
• Do not insert anything into the disk drives unless instructed by the teacher.
• Do not insert any disk or other object that does not belong in the drive.
Flash drives and/or thumb drives
***If possible please have you parents
purchase a flash drive for you to use this
year to save your work. You can find a
2GB for about $5 which will store quite of
bit of data.***
Your Keyboard• Do not press more than one key at a
time unless instructed by the teacher.• Do not ever pound on the keys.• Always keep your hands in home row
position when typing.
Your mouse• Do not hold down
the mouse button.• Only click one side
of the mouse at a time, never both at the same time.
• Always click the left side of the mouse (the sticker side), unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
Headphones/Ear buds• You can bring in ear buds or
headphones to use while working independently or when you have earned free time. You will be able to listen to music but only when you’ve been told that it is okay.
Printers• Do not touch
any of the buttons on the printer.
• Do not ever print unless you have permission from the teacher.
Entering the Classroom

Beginning of Class• Go to my website:

grade• Prepare for what we’ll be doing that
day (open any files, etc.)
During Instruction• Listen quietly• Raise your hand to ask
questions• Follow along so you know
what you’re doing
Independent Work Time• Do your own work• Follow the directions to ensure
full points• If allowed, you may listen to
music
Turning in assignments• All assignments will be submitted to my
dropbox account. You will use the following format for saving all of your work: hour, first and last name, assignment name.

Leaving the Lab•Exit out of all programs•Log off computers•Push in chair•Walk out quietly
Passes• You will receive 2 bathroom
passes during the quarter. • No planner, no pass! • Remember to use your 4
minutes in between class wisely!
Student Connect
• You will be required to log into Student Connect at least once a week to make sure that you have all assignments turned in.
• Do this for all of your classes and stay on top of things this quarter!
• If you do not know your password, bring your planner up to my desk at an appropriate time and you can write it down.
Zero Hour• Approximately 7:15 am• All subjects• School work• Extra help
Fire Drill• Calming and quietly get up and
move toward door (last person close door)
• Stay together as class and walk toward the outside door by Mrs. McLaughlin’s room
• Once outside, walk back toward the trees and get into alphabetical order
Tornado Drill• Calmly and quietly move toward door• Line up outside on the wall with Mrs.
Dimilia’s door • Once that row is filled up make another row
behind those students (usually need 3 rows)• You sit facing the wall, Indian style, hands
covering your head• NO talking!
