5Mercian Events can trace its history back to the 1930’s with ease – to a time of 16mm silent movies, photography and not a lot else.

Charles Istead, a veteran of WW1, founded the business here in Worcester during WW2 after being driven out of Birmingham by the bombing.

His Birmingham based clients continued as customers due to his vast experience in the world of cinema photography. Amongst his clients were household names such as Guest Keen & Nettlefold – Delta Metals – Bill Switchgear – Cannings & BSA to name but a few.

Since the very early days the business evolved to cater for a very fast moving industry - After film came the first commercial black and white video tape ½ “ and 1” then followed colour video again ½” and 1” this was followed closely with video cassettes primary from Philips then came VHS and Betamax the first of the consumer products.

The creation of MERCIAN EVENTS is the brainchild of its new Managing Director Tim Istead, a grandson of Charles Istead - this has come into effect by the retirement of his uncle Keith Istead.

Before Now

Four years ago when PSG Events broke away from the PSG Group it was under an obligation to change the name of the company within a certain period of time.

That time has now arrived.
