WelcomeIt is our absolute pleasure to welcome you to
Manor School and thank you for taking the time
to look at our prospectus.
Manor School is a warm, happy and
welcoming primary special school
where our pupils come first. We
are part of the Brent Specialist
Academy Trust and are committed
to ensuring that all pupils are
personally supported to make the
most of their unique potential. We
never underestimate a pupil’s ability
to achieve and have high aspirations
for all. We have a highly trained
and effective team of staff who
specialise in supporting pupils with
a wide range of special educational
needs and disabilities (SEND).
We are highly ambitious for every
pupil, and our experienced class
based staff and in-house therapists
ensure that each pupil’s individual
needs are met through personalised
learning, small group teaching, and
specialist interventions.
Working in close partnership with
parents and carers is of paramount
importance to us and we operate
an ‘Open Door’ policy. We believe
that the best way to gain a true
sense of whether a school is
right for your child is to see it
first-hand and I’d like to extend a
warm invitation to all prospective
parents and carers.
If you’re visiting today, I hope
you find your tour enjoyable and
informative. If you plan to visit in
the near future, we look forward
to meeting you soon. Please don’t
hesitate to contact the school
should you have any questions
or queries.

“To pursue educational excellence, innovation and research offering the most effective teaching and learning opportunities to our pupils, parents, staff and community.”
Our School Vision is
a simple yet powerful
concept that permeates
all that we do.
“Love, Learn, Laugh”
OUR MISSION
OUR VISION
-
• Ensuring that every pupil and their
family is part of our safe, caring,
respectful and vibrant community.
• Providing every pupil with
diverse opportunities and high
quality teaching and learning
with a focus on effective,
functional communication
and independence.
• Ensuring that our curriculum
is well planned and delivered
to ensure every pupil builds
their skills, knowledge and
understanding as they move
through the school.
• Embracing a collaborative,
multi-disciplinary, personalised
and holistic approach to support
our pupils.
• Encouraging our pupils to achieve
well and to celebrate their own
successes.
• Supporting our pupils to develop
their emotional wellbeing and
equipping them with strategies,
skills and resilience needed to lead
happy, active and fulfilled lives.
• Ensuring our pupils have
enrichment experiences that
develop and foster a creative
outlook and approach to learning.
What We’re Proud OfOur approach to education is
based on our mission and vision,
and builds on these core values.
We take great pride in:
-
Love, Learn, Laugh
-
Our curriculum is well-balanced
with a firm focus on the
development of functional
communication, social interaction,
independence, literacy and
numeracy. We know that by
keeping these key elements at
the heart of everything we teach
our pupils, their life chances will
be enhanced. To enrich learning,
all pupils have weekly access to
sessions delivered by specialists.
These sessions include Art,
Music, Life Skills, Swimming and
Special Yoga. We acknowledge
that learning also occurs outside
of the classroom and work hard
to ensure that all pupils access
the local community regularly
and join their peers on relevant
educational visits.
Class teams respond to each
individual’s needs by creating a
bespoke educational programme
that takes into account their
interests and strengths. Our small
class sizes and high staff ratio
enable us to personalise learning
effectively and differentiate the
curriculum accordingly. Each pupil
has a Personal Intervention Plan
(PIP) which identifies short-term
targets in line with their EHCP
Outcomes. Targets are set on a
half-termly basis and are written
in collaboration with members of
our Multi-Agency Support Team
(MAST) and shared with parents
and carers.

comprised of the following, all of whom work tirelessly to ensure that
every pupil receives the education and care that they deserve.
Multi-Agency Support Team
-
• Helps parents and carers feel
more supported by staff and by
each other.
• Means lots of opportunities for
parents and carers to find out
about their child’s progress.
• Allows parents and carers to have
a say in their child’s education.
• Leads to more consistency
between home and school.
• Includes a designated team,
training, home visits, coffee
mornings, special assemblies,
International Day celebrations,
Structured Conversations,
and an ‘Open Door’ policy.
Our close positive relationships
with families are evidenced by
the results of parent surveys,
which continually show that 100%
of respondents either agree or
strongly agree with the statements
“I feel better able to support my
child’s learning following meetings
with staff” and “My child makes
good progress at Manor School”.
Working Closely With Families
-
We are fully committed to keeping our pupils safe, and
promoting the welfare of our pupils is our number one priority.
We follow Safeguarding and Pupil
Protection procedures rigorously, and
robust systems are in place to ensure
that our pupils are protected from harm.
We know that our pupils can be
particularly vulnerable, so we place
a high emphasis on teaching them
functional communication and the
independence and skills required to keep
themselves safe in school and beyond.
All our staff are well trained and
have an excellent understanding
of safeguarding. We have a
safeguarding lead and a deputy
safeguarding lead to ensure policy
is put into practice. Please see our
Safeguarding Policy for additional
detail (available on our website).
How We Keep Our Pupils Safe
-
We support, promote, and develop our pupils’ wellbeing by:
• Maintaining our ‘Healthy School’
status.
• Supporting their emotional,
social and physical development,
which goes hand in hand with
their academic achievement.
• Helping older pupils develop
their independence on
residential trips.
• Teaching them how to swim in
the school swimming pool until
they are competent enough to
access swimming lessons at the
local sports centre.
• Having several climbing frames,
a sunken trampoline, a basket
swing, a multi-use AstroTurf, an
accessible roundabout, scooters,
and outdoor gym equipment in
the playground, encouraging
them to get active and keep fit!
• Implementing the Thrive
approach, which helps staff go
the extra mile to ensure pupils’
emotional needs are recognised
and met.
• Hosting Yoga sessions from a
visiting teacher, which “tells our
worries to go away”
…and much, much more!
Pupil Wellbeing
-
Our pupils are very proud of the school and talk enthusiastically about its success
and their personal learning experiences. Some responses when asked “What do you
like about Manor School?” were:
“Everyone is kind to each other and I feel safe.”
“We have fun and learn and get ready for big school too.”
“I have lots of friends and my teachers give me fun work.”
