exams.one of the most beautiful concepts in psychology is that of “individual differences”. We are all different. our height,

body weight, color, personality, aptitude, liking, intellect, choice, attitude etc are all different from each other. That’s the

beauty of Nature! No two individuals on this planet are like ( cloning of human beings is not a reality till now ) Since we

are all different our careers are also bound to be different. Selecting a right career is like the exercise of

matching the pair.

You are Commodity in Job Market You as a pharmacy professional will be paid only if your skills are in demand. That’s the reason I say never forget that “ you are a Commodity in job Market”.

The moment we say market, we start talking about buyers and sellers. In job market you are a seller of your skills and the buyer of your skills (your employer) will pay you depending on the value (price) of you skills.

The law of demand and supply will determine the value of your skill.

Don’t be surprised but what is true in the case of Software professionals is also true in your case because you are also a Commodity in the job Market. Software professionals were paid heavily 3-4 years before but today there salaries are dropping down. Reason more supply of computer engineers and less demand for them.The writing on the wall is clear

“ enter in that area of career which has got high demand and less supply.”

Value addition

Closely related with the law of demand and supply is the concept of value addition.

The price of raw material is the least that of intermediate is moderate and of the finished product is always maximum. with every step of value addition price of commodity goes on increasing.

The cost of raw iron is lesser than of the cast iron. Steel is still more costly and a silver coated steel will be very expensive.

Go for value addition to your basic skill and you will find that price of your skills go on increasing.

 

Need of the society The job market is governed by the needs of society. Different societies have different needs and therefore promote Different needs and therefore promote different skills.

For example, Indian society promotes cricket therefore making a career in India is lucrative.

How about trying to make a career in cricket in USA? It’s obviously a bad idea. The good idea in USA is to make career in baseball instead of cricket.

1. It is very Well paid job. A community pharmacist in U.S. has a salary at par with those working in R & D

2. It provides opportunity for application of knowledge which is an exciting and satisfying experience.

3. Female candidates can take advantage of flexible timings of community pharmacy to suit their domestic commitments.
