CURRICULUM
I strongly believe that 2nd graders can do their own work. I do not script out assignments and they do as much of the “prep” work
themselves.

CLASS SCHEDULEScience: Mondays - Lab 1x week / Classroom 1-2+ week
Music: Tuesdays
PE: Wednesday & Thursday. Please make sure your child is
wearing tennis shoes and comfortable clothing on these days.
Library: Friday. Please make sure your child brings their
checked out book with them so they can get a new one.
Our “Typical” Daily Schedule is on our class
website with more detail.
HOMEWORK
CREEKSIDE HOMEPAGE
Will be posted on the Second grade homework website by Sunday at noon. (Possibly available the Friday before its
due). Due back the next Friday.
Approximately 30-45 minutes each night:
• 20 minutes of reading each night is critical to reading
fluency and comprehension. Reading log due back at
the beginning of each month.
• 20-25 minutes of math and writing prompt.
FRIDAY JOURNAL
• Every Friday students communicate what they
learned or accomplished during the week.
• Parents are asked to respond or at least sign the
journal.
• Journals returned on Mondays earn class Dojos.
STAR ATTRACTION
COUNTRY REPORT SIGN UP ON BACK TABLE
• Each child will have a turn being the �Star Attraction� for a
week.
• Student will bring home a poster to fill out and decorate.
• Please have your child bring items to fill the estimation jar (ex.
Erasers).
• Student will present information on the country they learned
about as well as their flag.
• Student will be the line leader for the week.
CLASSROOM
MANAGEMENTClassroom Dojo
Students will earn dojos for turning in homework, Friday journals, following directions, being a “Super listener, “ demonstrating a �Good Deed,” etc.
Students will lose dojos for breaking class rules or demonstrating disrespectful behavior toward teachers or fellow classmates.
Marbles
Earned when working as a class community during regular class time, Science,
Music, Tech lab, library, and P.E.
Main goals are to create:

BIRTHDAYSWe love to celebrate birthdays!
• No edible treats, however a book may be sent with
your child to be read aloud during the day.
• To avoid hurt feelings, please only send birthday invites
to school if you are inviting the entire class.
• Half Birthdays are celebrated for those who have
birthdays during the summer.
