RYBURN UNITED FC - JUNIORS INTRODUCTION LETTER Version 8.0 - July 2018 WELCOME LETTER TO NEW MEMBERS Ryburn United FC welcomes you as a member and parent, We would like to provide you with some introductory information which we hope will be helpful. Club Background & History Ryburn United FC is a community Football Club located in the heart of the Ryburn Valley (Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale); the catchment area for the Club is the town of Sowerby Bridge and villages of Ripponden, Barkisland & Rishworth. Over the last 10 years the Football Club has enjoyed a rapid growth within the participation from children and adults. The Club holds the FA (Football Association) Charter Standard status, which is the recognised badge for best practices towards running and managing a sports club. The club have 30 teams with 30 qualified coaches (FA Level 1 and above) and adhere to all applicable Child Welfare practices. The Club’s home ground is Ripponden Wood (HX6 4AG), where the club hold a 30-year lease. In 2014, Ryburn United were awarded with the Calderdale Sports Club of the Year, presented at the Halifax Courier awards night. In addition to this, the Club have strong community links with local schools, social groups and the Parish Council. The Club often feature within the local press (photos, and reports etc) and communications throughout the district and beyond. Ryburn United is considered and recognised to be much more than just a football club, as it offers and provides many benefits to the local community. For the last 4 years a dedicated team of volunteers has moved the club forward in a way that as we approach the 2018-19 season there are many exciting developments, here is a quick summary: ! Grown the club from 22 teams to 30 for 2018-19 ! Increased membership by 20% ! Overseen the merger of the junior section with the senior section as one Charter Standard Club with a new structure and operating model ! Worked tirelessly to raise funding towards a new club house, equipment, kit and ground improvements

! Secured Premier League Funding in April 2018, for new clubhouse planned forcompletionbythestartof2019.ThefacilitywillbethefocalpointoftheClubwhilstoffering the best playing surfaces/facilities possible. We plan for this to be acommunityhubforallthingssportsandrelatedcommunityeventscentre

! Excitingsummerofclubeventsplanned! Everymemberwillbeissuedwithanewkitandtrainingtop,toensurewealllookthe

partandrepresentourclubinthepossiblelight,wehaveworkedwithEV2todesignandbuildourbespokeclubrangeofclothingandonlineshopfromSeptember2018

! Our 1st Teamhas secured a place in the next tier of the football league andwill bestartingtheseasonintheWestRidingCountAmateurFA

The junior section now has over 300members participating in training,matches and socialevents,whereagesrangefromof5to17years, fromallwalksof lifeandbackgrounds.Thesenior section has 4 x open age teams and considered one of the strongest teams withinCalderdale.Manyofthejuniormembershavealreadymadethetransitiontotheseniorteam,which supports its sustainability as a progressive anddeveloping Sports club. TheClub is anon-profit making organisation with all monies raised from sponsorship, memberships orgrantsinvestedbackintotheClube.g.formaintenanceoftheground,hireoftrainingfacilitiesandextrapitches.In2015theclub launchedagirls (under12s)team,whichhasalreadyattractedover20newfemalememberstotheclub.RyburnUnitedenteredateamtotheWestRidingGirlsUnder11league for the 2015/16 season - the team WON the West Riding League in their auguralseason. In2017theclubincreasedfrom2to4girls’teamsandthe2018-019seasonwewillhavegirlsteamsatU9,U10,U11,U12,U13andU15,thisatruedemonstrationofhowRyburnUnitedisreachingoutandgrowingthegameacrossthelocalcommunity.

MiniSoccerisdeemedasnon-competitivewithastrongemphasisonparticipationanddevelopmentoftheplayers-thereforeareasonable/equalamountofgametimecanbeexpectedforeachchild.

JuniorSoccerbecomescompetitiveatUnder12s,whereteamsareselectedonabilityandmeritwithresultsandleaguetablespublished-thereforeequalgametimeisnotalwayspossibleatthislevel.

Whereanagegrouphasmultipleteams,thenamesofReds,BlacksandWhiteswillbeadopted.

TheJuniorfootballseasonrunsbetweenthebeginningofSeptemberandMay.ThemonthsofAprilandMaytendtobefocusedontournaments/festivalsastheLeagueseasonfinishesinMarch.Theannualawardsday(allplayersreceivesomeformofrecognition)takesplaceinJuneorJuly,usuallyattheRyburnUnitedFCCommunityFestival.Coaches:Eachteamwillhaveatleast1xFAqualifiedcoachandallcoaches(includingassistants)willhaveavalidCRB/DBScertificate.Themanager/coachesareasfollows(manyagegroupshaveadditionaltrainedcoachesinsupportingrolesintotaltheclubhas40coachessupportingteams):
