SWIMMING CARNIVAL The Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival is on TOMORROW, Tuesday, 12th February at Mait-land Aquatic Centre. To ensure our carnival runs smoothly and on time we ask that students do not buy food from the kiosk - instead bring recess, lunch/drink from home. Parents are more than welcome to purchase from the kiosk for them-selves. Please be aware that there will be no ‘set time’ for lunch/recess so your child will need to have their lunchbox and water bottle with them in the grandstand. Student break times will depend upon the progress of the carnival events.

Please remember:

Sunscreen

School sunsafe hat

Towel and swimmers

A healthy lunch, recess and water bottle

Arrive at school on time ready for the bus.

Please ensure ALL ITEMS ARE LABELLED with your child’s name. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION Resource fees for 2019 cost $45 per student. These fees go directly to providing every day resources for all students in the classroom. Please send payment in an envelope with your child’s name, class and “Resource Fee” written clearly on the front and place envelope in the silver tin at the school office. You may also pay online via the school website. Please enter “Resource Fee” under the payment description. CONGRATULATIONS to Milla in 5S who has made it to the Regional Tennis finals. A great effort!

Library News Well done to all the students who remembered to bring their Library bags last week for their lessons, which meant that they were able to borrow books and get back into some reading.

Thank you especially to those parents who were able to locate those elusive missing books from last year, and return them to our library. Having these books back in our Library is very much appreciated.

In addition to class sessions, the library is open during Lunch 2, Tuesday through to Friday for students who like to come in to enjoy the facilities.

Currently there is a trial underway for prospective new Library Monitors for 2019. It is a very big commitment by students to become a Library Monitor, as their job will entail assisting in the Library once a week for the entire year. There are some very enthusiastic Year 6 students taking part in this trial, which will ultimately decide the 16 students required.

Reminder the following lists the Library days for Year 1 to Year 6 classes:

Debating News

We have had an overwhelming response from our senior students who are interested in debating this year. Over the past week a series of trials were held every lunch time to tallow students to have the opportunity to take part. There are some potentially very talented debaters in our midst.

Due to the Debating Training Day being held at our school this week, it was very tight with the schedule and meant that there was such an intensive week of try outs. Unfortunately we are limited to the number of students that can be select-ed to join the teams as each school can only submit 2 teams into the NSW Premier’s year 5 & 6 Debating Competition for 2019.

With over 30 students applying and an existing group of students form 2018, we were only able to offer positions to 16

students. Some of these students will be able to attend the Training Day on Thursday, but again this is limited in num-

bers as there a nearly 100 students from around the area attending.
