NYU Summer

Publishing Institute

Internship

Do you love to read? Do you look at social media first thing

when you wake up to see what’s new in the world of culture

and ideas? Can you see yourself seeking a career in

publishing? Are you a college junior or senior?

We invite you to explore spending the summer at the NYU Summer

Publishing Institute (SPI), a six week intensive devoted to book and

digital/magazine media.

You also will participate in special skills workshops and hands-on

strategy sessions during the week and on certain weekends. New

workshops this year include social media marketing, in-depth book

editing, and job hunting strategies. Our computer workshops cover the

latest publishing technologies, including HTML, Photoshop, Premiere

Pro, and InDesign. In addition, you’ll learn how to use your editorial

and marketing knowledge in a wide range of creative environments,

including digital content, e-commerce, and social media and

technology companies.

No specific major is required, and we encourage applications from

students with an interest and experience in writing, editing, marketing,

social media, design, photography, and the world of media and

communications.

When you successfully complete SPI, you earn six graduate

credits; these credits may be counted toward the NYU SPS

MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media if accepted to the

program, or to an advanced degree elsewhere if deemed

appropriate by the degree-granting institution.
