Tardy Bell

1. Students must be in their seat BEFORE the tardy bell finishes ringing. Any student standing around the room, talking, or late to the classroom WILL be marked tardy and owe time.

Quizzette

2. When the tardy bell rings, you must begin your quizzette right away. This is an easy activity to be done by yourself with no talking. Quizzettes will last about 5-10 minutes. If you lose your paper, raise your hand to receive another paper.

Materials3. Bring something to write with and line paper everyday to class. Quietly ask another student for materials when needed. Avoid asking the teachers for stuff. Bring completed homework and other assignments when due.

Questions and Answers

4. If at anytime you need to ask a question during the lecture you must raise your hand. It also follows that if the teacher asks a question for the class, you must either raise your hand, or you may be selected randomly to answer.

Food and Drink

5. No food, gum, candy or drinks (other than water in a closed container) will be allowed in class. The only exception that which is distributed by the teacher. Toss out food and gum as you enter the classroom.

Teacher Areas

6. The teacher’s desk, computer tables, overhead area, TA desk, etc. are off limits to students. This includes the teacher’s stapler, hole punch, tape, pencils, pens, papers, etc.

Missed work

7. It is your responsibility to obtain all missed quizzettes, notes, handouts etc on your own time. Do not ask during class time for makeup work as this is not a good use of time for everyone else.

Group Work

8. During partner and small group work, appropriate noise levels should be maintained – it needs to “sound like math”. Discussions should be related to the assigned task and all members are expected to participate and be on task. Individual voices should not be heard above the rest of the class.

Attention Everyone!

9. Counting down 3-2-1 means that I need your attention. You need to get quiet so that you and others can hear directions, etc. It must be silent on 1 or attention practice may occur including during your lunch time.

Substitutes15. When a sub is present, often unannounced, please follow instructions, stay on task and complete work assigned to you. Many students last semester fell a letter grade from not turning in completed work from subs. If the class receives a grade of “D” or “F” we will work on social skills during lunch. ☹

Homework16. Do homework when assigned. You will not receive a “A” for the class without completing homework. Test and quiz questions often come from homework problems.

Social Skills17. Please follow all school wide social skills. A social skill paper may be issued for breaking rules. Please fill it out and return it at the END of the period. Students who refuse to do social skills WILL be brought in during lunch for skills review.

Classwork
