DROP OFF AND PICK-UP

Thank you to all families who have ensured their child is at school and ready to enter the classroom at when doors open. The first 15 minutes are so important in ensuring a smooth start to the classroom program at 8.30am (Middle School) / 8.45am sharp (Junior School) and in setting the tone for the day.

All parents (excepting Kindy - and Pre-Primary in Term 1) are asked to use the Kiss and Drive for dropping of and picking up. We appreciate your consideration of the 90 Kindy families who are required to take their child to the classroom door.

DUTY OF CARE

Children should be dropped to school just before classrooms are open (8.15am MS/8.30am JS). MTCC Staff are not responsible for the Duty of Care of students until they enter the classroom at 8.30am.

As a matter of courtesy, a staff member has been rostered to supervise students from 8.20am until classrooms open. All Junior School children who arrive before 8.30am must go to the steps outside the Covered Area until the Duty Teacher arrives.

Kindy - and PP & Year 1 students who are not going to the Covered Area - are to stand with their parents until the classroom doors open, this is not a time to be running around or playing on or with College play equipment. All Year 2 to 8 students are to go to the specified supervision area as soon as they have placed their bag at their classroom.

Junior School Parents are reminded to gather outside the Administration until 2.55pm. Please do not wait outside classrooms.

Any students who are dropped off to school before 8.20am or are not picked up by 3.20pm must be booked into OSH. Please call 0428766496. CAR PARK

Please note that the first three bays that run along Junior School Administration are reserved for Family Day-Care providers dropping off or collecting MTCC students.

Between 8am to 9am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm all traffic exiting the College carpark must turn left. This will allow traffic to flow and ensure a safe and timely exit for everyone.

Parents are asked NOT to park in the area where the Buses stop outside the Middle School. ASH WEDNESDAY MASS

Our Ash Wednesday Mass will take place on Wednesday 6th March. Please save this date. Times TBC. All parents are welcome to attend. SACRAMENTAL ENROLMENT AND COMMITMENT MASSES IN 2019

Sacramental Enrolment Forms for 2019 will be available at the Sacramental Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday 26 February at 5.30pm. Forms are to be completed and submitted at one of the Sacramental Commitment Masses which will be held at 6pm Saturday 2 March, 9.30am Sunday 3 March and 9.30am Sunday 10th March 2019. Please put these dates in your calendar as it is an expectation that if your child is receiving a Sacrament in 2019 you and your child will attend one of these masses. BAPTISM

If you, or your child, may be interested in being Baptised into the Catholic Church, please contact Father Geoff directly, or the College. Preparation for this Sacrament may be provided within the Parish and by College staff.

PARENTS & FRIENDS The first P&F Meeting for 2019 will be held on Thursday 28th of February at 6.30pm in the Junior School Covered Area. We warmly welcome all parents to attend.

MTCC MULTICULTURAL TWILIGHT FAIR 22 MARCH

It’s time to look in cupboards, toy boxes, book shelves, under beds, in storage areas etc. and to gather all your saleable items to help our White Elephant Stall to be bigger and better than any other! Ideally, if every family was able to donate one or two books/toys per child and at least one new or slightly used household item, we would have more than enough to run a fabulous White Elephant Stall.

WE NEED YOUR HELP so please get your items together and bring them to the JS Administration ready for our Fair organisers to collect! Please ensure items are clean and in saleable condition. Thank you!

This is our big FUN and FUND-raiser for the year and will be a wonderful opportunity to come together, as a community. The involvement of all MTCC families will be necessary in the lead up to the event, and particularly on the afternoon/evening.

All families will receive a communication from the Fair Committee/ P&F this week confirming ways you can assist and asking for your commitment to help.

Thank you to all those working so hard for the benefit of all in our College community.

Keep an eye out for Fair updates in the Weekly – and on the Fair Facebook page.

WEEK DAY MASSES

Mass is held every Tuesday to Friday at 9am in the Parish House. Father Geoff warmly welcomes you to come along.

LABELLING UNIFORMS

Just a reminder to label all uniform items, lunchboxes, water bottles with your child’s first name and last name, especially hats! We have a number of items in lost property with no names which makes it difficult to return them to their owners. Thank you for your cooperation.

HEALTHY LUNCHBOX

This notice is being repeated as we are finding many children with lunchboxes filled with packets of high fat/salt/sugar low nutrition foods – including lollies/chocolates etc. Items high in sugar, fat, salt are considered ‘sometimes’ foods and should be kept for special occasions and are therefore not to be included in lunchboxes.

Healthy lunches and snacks are important for keeping active kids alert and focused and providing them with the nutrition they need every day.

A healthy lunch box should include: • Fruit – at least one serve of fresh seasonal fruit. If you don’t have fresh fruit, canned (in natural

juice) is a good substitute. As dried fruit is high in sugar it should only be included on an occasional basis.

• Vegetables – vegetable sticks, salads or a mix of raw (with dip) or grilled vegetables • Dairy – one serve of milk, yoghurt or cheese supports optimal growth and development in

children. If your child can’t tolerate dairy provide a suitable alternative. • Protein – lean meat or poultry, fish, eggs, tofu or legumes/beans. • Grain foods – wholegrain and high fibre varieties are best. • Water – the best drink to keep children hydrated.

As MTCC is an Allergy Aware school please be reminded that while nuts are a healthy addition to most children’s diet, they are not to be included in school lunchboxes due to our whole college support of all children who are at risk of a severe anaphylactic reaction.

Remember, children who help plan and prepare their own lunch are more likely to eat it.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ‘NUDE’ FOOD – ANY WRAPPERS MUST BE TAKEN HOME IN YOUR CHILD’S LUNCHBOX.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE

We are pleased to welcome Michelle as our new Community Health Nurse who will be visiting MTCC throughout the year. Community Health Nurses work to promote healthy development and wellbeing so students may reach their full potential. A major part of Michelle’s work will be focused on early intervention and the School Entry Health Assessment program. Community Health Nurses also serve as a health contact point for children and their families, providing information, assessment, health counselling and referral. The services provided are free and confidential. If you have a concern about your child’s health or development, please contact Michelle. PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS

A friendly reminder that families are not permitted to bring their pets onto the school premises. Thank you for your cooperation.

Chinese Dragon Incursion 11/02/2019

On Monday 11 February, students from Years 4 and 5, participated in a Chinese Dragon Incursion to celebrate Imlek in Indonesian class. We warmed up with special dance moves and learnt to work as a team before wielding the dragon and performing like a real dragon troupe. Thank you to Mrs Kim Rozario for organising this special cultural immersion opportunity for our Year 4 & 5 students.
