Bob’s Thoughts… ALWAYS A WINNER

“Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savor

of His knowledge by us in every place.” - 2 Corinthians 2:14

“What’s that smell?” This is a common question any time there’s a pungent or a tantalizing aroma. Making “manifest the savor of His knowledge” is indicative of the release of the fragrant aroma of the very life of Christ - the aura of His presence. Another common question is, “who won?” This question frequently occurs after a contest or con-flict has ended. Perhaps that’s because everyone likes a winner and none of us enjoys losing. However, for most of us, all too often we end up losing. Not a good experience! But it doesn’t have to be that way.

God wants everyone to be a winner! He has provided a viable alternative to a life of failure and defeat; a win-win situation whereby we triumph and He’s made known to others. Tragically, most people are not even aware of that possibility, much less, how to go about it. So let’s find out!

Today’s verse tells us that God “always causes us to triumph in Christ.” “Cause” is a grace word indicating that God does it; He makes it happen! “Triumph” means you overcome; you are victorious; you win! God has made abundant provision for everyone, everywhere, to be a winner through His Son Jesus Christ. But, you must be “in Christ.” This oc-curs when you are obedient, and have put Christ on in Baptism. You are born again of His Spirit. Thus, the Victor, Jesus Christ abides in you, and you become a winner in Him. However, potential is one thing, practice is another! Triumphing only occurs when you are “in Christ.” So, respond in obedience to Christ’s commands and become a winner in Him!

Have a Great Week! Bob

Church Survey Our church leadership is about to engage in a listening exercise provided by Leadership Transformations, Inc. From now until to March 8th, we’ll be conducting an all church survey called the Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). This web-based survey will allow us to collect valuable feedback from both the congregation and the leadership team regarding their views on our church health. We welcome everyone at South Main to partici-pate in the survey. Please take this opportunity to share your thoughts with us. Your feedback will help shape strategic decisions and ministry effectiveness for the fu-ture.

To participate in the survey: 1. Get on the internet and go to www.HealthyChurch.net 2. Click on the button that says “Take the Survey” on the left side of the screen. 3. Use the following information to log in: Login: South-Main Password: Henderson

Please give us your honest feedback. (The survey takes 20-25 minutes to complete.) If you don’t have a computer/internet access, contact Renee at 903-657-1408 and we can arrange for you to fill out a paper version of the survey.
