Let me explain… Once a man was asked, “What did you gain by regularly praying to God?” The man replied, “Nothing…but let me tell you what I lost: Anger, greed, insecurity, jealousy, fits of rage, envy, hatred, selfishness and fear.” Sometimes, the answer to our prayers and the key to our discipleship is losing things. For example, “Lord, wash away my sins; blot out my fear and hatred; take away my selfishness and greed; more of you, Lord, less of me. Amen.” I think that is why Paul tells the Galatians, “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, etc. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Following Jesus means letting go those acts of the flesh and desiring the acts of the Spirit. So let us lose these “acts of the flesh” and encourage each other to be losers too, in order to be gainers of Christ. God bless the losers of Alliance! +Bill

Note from your Pastor

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

-Psalm 51:1-3

We Christians are losers.
