February 18, 2013

To all Pastors, Elders, Youth Leaders & Sponsors

Dear Brethren:

Grace and Peace to you all!

Let me hope that the teething pains some of you have encountered as “first timers” have

been sorted out and you are now well on your way to what will be a Spirit-filled year.

The Youth Ministries Department also wishes to express profound gratitude to the youth

leaders for their overwhelming support at the Youth Workshop and the Youth District

Impact for the Florence Hill District of Churches, held on February 10, 2013 and

February 23, 2013 respectively.

Let me take this opportunity to inform and remind you of some critical dates and events:

1. Global Youth Day scheduled for March 16, 2013 is a “not to be missed

event.” On Global Youth Day from 7-11am, the youth of East Jamaica

Conference will join with over, “eight million Adventist youth who will be

mobilized on the streets of our villages, towns, and cities around the world to

be the hands and feet of Jesus through acts of kindness.” At 12:00 pm we will

move to the Emancipation Park in New Kingston for health checks,

distribution of priorities magazines and a concert. The day promises to be

great! Share the news, bring a youth and let’s do what Jesus would do-help

others.

2. The Basic Staff Training Programme begins on March 10, 2013 at 9:a.m, at

the Kencot SDA church. This is a prerequisite to all training programmes

(Master Guide, Senior Youth, Drill Instructor & PLA), unless done within the

last three years. The annual training programmes will commence on April 7,

2013.

All AY Leaders and Club Directors MUST make use of this opportunity to be

trained in their specified areas as the Jamaica Union Conference has made it

mandatory for all youth leaders to be trained.

Page 5: WEEKLY ADVISORY-02-03-2013

3. Please remember that your annual zonal membership fee of $ 1,500.00 per

church is now due. The fee is to assist the respective zones in their various

activities for the year. We anticipate your cooperation in order to effect the

needed impact within each zone. See also the Zonal Membership form

attached.

4. Week of Prayer 2013 will run from March 16-23, 2013. You can access the

readings at www.gcyouthministreis.org or ejc.interamerica-org.

5. Sports Evangelism kicks off on May 18, 2013 with a dress parade and rally.

The completion itself begins on May 25, 2013. These events will commence

at 7:30pm SHARP! Please check the youth website at ejcyouth.webs.com for

flyer and further details.

6. Bible Boom. District elimination begins June 1 and ends on June 30, 2013.

Please note the information on the flyer sent to your churches. For further

detail kindly contact the East Jamaica Conference office at 924-1061-3 for

further details. Contact can also be made with Sis. Angela Bernard, the Bible

Boom Coordinator for EJC, at [email protected].

Bible Boom forms are to be completed and returned via your Pastor/Zonal

Area Coordinators no later than June 30, 2013.

Please be reminded that Bible Boom is more than just a competition or

for entertainment. Its primary objective is to fix the Word of God in the

minds of our youth, “That the World May Know” that they are passionate

disciples for Christ.

7. Summer Camp. The annual summer camp will be held from August 13-20,

2013 at Robin’s Bay. Cost is only $6,500 (inclusive of T-Shirt). Each church

is being asked to send a delegate. Youth start planning to be there. Last year

was great but this year promises to be greater, more fun, fellowship and

spiritual nurture.

I pray that the Spirit of God may be poured out upon our youth here in EJC as we are

“Empowered for Mission!”

Yours in the Master’s Service

Pastor Hanson Drysdale

Youth Director, EJC
