Welcome to Grace

Grace is more than just the name of our church and school. Grace is the love and forgiveness that God has for us, even though we do not deserve it. God sent His Son to suffer, die and rise again for us, so that we might receive the gift of salvation, and the opportunity to live with Him forever in heaven. As a re-sponse to this gift of God, we reach out to one another and to our community with the Word of God that tells us of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ. This message lies at the heart of our mission and ministry as Grace Lutheran Church and School!

For your convenience, Hearing Assistance Devices are available at the Welcome Center. The nursery is staffed during the 9:30am Sunday service.

Our next baptism class is going to be August 13 at 11am. Please contact Pastor Howard or the church office if you have a child that you would like to have baptized.

Run with Grace meets every Wed from 6:30-7:30pm. It’s a no cost casual running/walking club aimed at bringing together runners and walkers of all ability levels to promote a lifestyle of physical and spiritual wellness. Wheeling for Healing Bike Ride - Sat. Aug 12 at Community Memorial Hospital. Join Grace’s team to raise money to support the Cancer Care Center. We need at least 10 registrants by July 14 to have a t-shirt with our logo on the back. Sign up at the communication corner and make checks payable to Grace Lutheran church with W4H in the memo. The Manna Food Pantry helps families in need. If you would like to donate, you can drop off items in the bin adjacent to the Commons. "How's Your Soul?" Small Group - Focusing on how God gives us rest for our soul. Pastor and Delinah Howard will be leading this study on Thursday nights from 8:00 - 9:00pm. The remaining meeting dates are Aug 3, 17, & 24. Contact the church office if you are interested.

Register your child or sign up to volunteer with VBS at http://www.myvbs.org/gracemenomoneefalls

We are so excited to be teaming up with the Make-A-Wish foundation for VBS this year! Start digging in cushions and saving those spare quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies, because Penny War is coming!

VBS is open to all children who will be entering 3K through 5th grade in the 2017-2018 school year. Children must be potty trained if a parent or caregiver is not staying with the child. Registration cost for VBS is $15 per child. Payment can be made via cash/check to church office or by paying online.

We need you! VBS is only able to work with the help of high school and adult leaders. We need leaders in ALL grades as well as a Preschool Craft Leader and a Music Leader. Please register to volunteer ASAP.

Thanks to the 70+ volunteers that have already signed up! Training dates and times have been set to make our VBS a great place for students and volunteers. Those who did NOT attend a training session last year, come during the listed hours to do paperwork and a quick 10 minute presentation. If you DID attend a training meeting last year, just pick up your paperwork during the times listed for a super-quick refresher!

VBS is in need of the donation of a plain-colored shelter/tent for outside games as high winds destroyed our previously donated tent last year. Please contact the church office if you would be willing to donate a replacement tent for this important ministry.

VBS Wrap-Up: Don’t let the fun end on Friday, August 4! Wear your VBS shirt to the 9:30am service on Sunday, August 6 and sing with us. We’ll be leading the adults in some of our favorite songs from the week. Then, pack your car for a tailgate and celebrate a great week here at Grace! Right after the service, the Holy Smokers will be grilling up a storm and members of the Praise Team will provide music. We’ll provide the meat and drinks for a free will donation courtesy of Acts of Grace, you bring your own sides and chairs (and neighbors and friends.) Feel free to bring your favorite tailgate games, too! Donations of funds to offset the costs of the tailgate can be made to the church office and marked: VBS Celebration Service

Concerning the Lord’s Supper

In the Lord’s Supper we receive Christ’s Body and Blood in faith, trusting in His Word and promises that proclaim the forgiveness of sins and strength for our faith. As we partake of this sacrament together, we testify to our faith in Jesus and to our unity of faith and bond of Christian fellowship. If you wish to partake of the Lord’s Supper, please be guided by your response to these questions:

Do you believe that you are a sinner and in need of forgiveness from God?

Do you believe that this forgiveness is found only in Christ, and is offered by Christ in the Lord’s Supper?

Do you believe that Christ’s body and blood are truly present in, with, and under the bread and wine as Christ promised?

Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, as taught at Grace, and by your participation in the sacrament, give testimony to the faith we share?

Do you desire by the power of the Holy Spirit and the instruction of God’s Word to live a life pleasing to Him?

Before communing for the first time at Grace, you are asked to please speak with one of the pastors. Children are welcomed at the Lord’s Table to receive a blessing, but should not partake of the Sacrament prior to Communion instruction. God’s richest blessings to all who come to His table!
