Annual Parish VOLUNTEER Dinner

Monday, June 6th As we do every year, out of profound appreciation for all those ADULT parishioners (and their spouses) who worked for our parish throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, we will gather for a sit-down dinner at SCALETTA RESTAURANT on West 77th Street on Monday evening, June 6th.

* * * * * * * * THE BLACK AND INDIAN COLLECTION

There will be a second collection today for the Black and Indian Mission, the oldest national collection of the Church in the U. S. The parishes on the reservations in the West, in the inner cities of Mississippi, in the isolated wilder-ness of Alaska are among the poorest and neediest in the land.

Last year your contributions meant that over 8 million dollars were collected; 132 dioceses received assistance. * * * * * * * * REGISTRATION FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

* * * * * * * * [Ordinary] Time will Tell

Nothing “Ordinary” About It! Welcome to the 10th Sunday in Ordinary Time. It’s the sixth month-mark of the liturgical calendar (beginning in December), and the major celebrations are complete: [Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter and Pentecost]. Now comes the time for growth and development, care and feeding, if you will. Does everything we have celebrated really touch our everyday lives? Do we still “choose” to be Catholic, or are we just “going along” because that’s what we have always done? Have we explanations for our faith, our hope and our charity? Now we Catholics shall evaluate how we’re doing by simply “counting off” the remaining Sunday with ordinal numbers (10th, 11th, 12th, etc.). Happy summer. * * * * * * * *

“Protecting Our Children” Annual Safe Environment Training Day for Clergy

As required for years now, all of our priests will be attending the annual meeting at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie on either June 8th or June 9th. Please pray for your priests and deacons who have the gravest responsibility to protect and guide all of us, but especially our youngsters, our most precious gifts from God. * * * * * * * *

http://bustedhalo.com/ Every time we ask questions about what our lives mean and what keeps us alive, we are talking about something that’s relevant to BustedHalo.com. You are a young Catholic and have not taken a look at Busted Halo? That’s too bad. Check it out! * * * * * * * * Holy Trinity’s Society of the Sacred Heart invites you to join them for their Annual Excursion to the Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, Saturday, June 11, 9:00 AM, meet in front of the church. For more information and to reserve, contact Yolanda Pardo at 212-362-7472. * * * * * * * *

“Father’s Day” is June 19th Special Father’s Day envelopes are at the back of the church for your convenience. Please list all the fathers of your family (living and deceased) and drop it in any collection. As with the Mother’s Day envelopes, Father’s Day envelopes will be placed on the altar throughout the month of June.

The silver Sanctus bell has been refurbished and looks clean and bright. Along with the refurbished bronze chimes that we use to begin Sunday Mass, and the refurbished, silver sacristy bell we use to begin daily Mass, the bells summon “all God’s children” to prepare to listen and respond to God’s call of love! God is in our midst! Let the bells ring out!

+ Holy Trinity – 10 Years Ago +

“from the archives!” Once again summer is upon us, and we take advantage of regular activities going on hiatus to dig through the “archives” and reprint pieces from the Holy Trinity bulletin from a decade ago. It is hoped that these will be items of interest for those who were not here then, and, for those who were, a sense of, “Was that really ten years ago?” A Golden Jubilee Celebration Join us next week June 4, 2006, at the 12:30 Mass, when we will celebrate Msgr. Leonard’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. On June 11th, there will be a Celebratory Concert by the Schola, free of charge, at 3:00 PM; a Pot-Luck Reception in the Murphy Center will follow. This will be a Parish-wide Festivity – all are welcome! After the 5:30 Mass, festivities will continue in the Grotto [an outdoor gathering place Holy Trinity used to have, between the Murphy Center and the Rectory]. Come raise a glass and offer best wishes! (5/28/06) A Note of Gratitude There is no human way that I can adequately express my thanks for the overwhelming display of love, affection and concern that has been showered on me these past two weeks. The Parish family has been overly generous with its praise, its talents, vocal and culinary, its sheer joy. You cannot imagine how deeply your thoughtful expressions of gratitude have moved me. I am wise enough not to fully believe them all and human enough to accept them as a challenge for the future. There have been many words of praise for the music of both Sundays, and the numbers that shared the cuisinary delights after the concert are aware of the multiple talents here and the generosity of so many. I have been indeed blessed to be your Pastor and only in prayer to God for you can I respond in any meaningful way. Thank you – (6/18/06) [Holy Trinity Parish was able to show its gratitude again to Msgr. Leonard as Pastor Emeritus for his 60th Anniversary!]
