* * * * * * * * Please Remember Your Parish!

May we bring this to your attention? Our Monday morning “Trinity Counters” have noticed collections have begun to decline, as the weather gets warmer and parishioners take advantage of the weekends to “get away.” Would you kindly remember us by making provision for the support of our parish by mail, or drop-off at the rectory? Like you, we do have to pay our bills throughout the summer. Be assured, every donation we receive is carefully accounted for and very much appreciated. Thank you. * * * * * * * *

http://bustedhalo.com/ Every time we ask questions about what our lives mean and what keeps us alive, we are talking about something that’s relevant to BustedHalo.com. You are a young Catholic and have not taken a look at Busted Halo? That’s too bad. Check it out! * * * * * * * *

Pews Flooring Being Finished The master carpenter, who worked so hard under Monsignor Leonard to replace and refinish much of the woodwork in our church, is now refinishing the surface underneath the pews – section by section. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we know you understand the importance of preserving the physical beauty that is our basilica-like building. * * * * * * * *

Pastor Will Be Away Monsignor is taking a few weeks off, July 14th through July 30th, to visit his sisters and friends.

Divine Murmurs Many Minds, Many Sources; Same God

CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA)

Perhaps you know someone – it may even be YOU – who desires to deepen their relationship with God through Baptism into the Catholic Faith. Are you a baptized Catholic but you’ve never prepared to receive the gifts of Confirmation or the Holy Eucharist?

Now’s the time to begin! If interested, call the Rectory at 212-787-0634, leave a message for Gary Cushing who will contact you to take the next step on this important journey of faith.

A Capital Campaign FOR US! As required, Monsignor Sandi is using the summer months to build a solid foundation of support among parishioners. Please pray for the parish-wide enthusiasm we need to make this campaign successful. The Archdiocese of New York, in an effort to improve the physical condition of all parishes (or pay off debts), is asking all pastors to unveil an Autumn Capital Campaign (similar to the one we ran in 2006).The local parish will retain 74% of their specified goal, with the rest going to support poor parishes (who cannot run such a campaign) and the regional schools. THERE WILL BE NO CARDINAL’S STEWARDSHIP APPEAL IN 2017. * * * * * * * * REGISTRATION FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

FATHER MARIANO PERRON Our friend from Madrid is expected to arrive later this month. We look forward to his valuable assistance and cheerful presence during the middle of summer.

“from the archives!” Holy Trinity’s Lenten Outreach Program – II Katrina Relief “Lenten Care Bags” We have all seen the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the pictures of destruction: the flooded houses, breached levees, abandoned buildings and streets. But the worst damage by far was the losses suffered by the local people. Some lost everything, some lost “only” irreplaceable personal possessions, but all suffered – these folks may no longer be in the headlines but their needs remain. Members of our CRC have set up a program that will provide more than anonymous financial aid: they have connected with Sacred Heart Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi and will bring them – in person – “care packages” from Holy Trinity. The CRC is asking you sign up to donate requested items: – items for ADULT BAGS: – Personal (such as photo album, disposable film, toiletries, Wallmart gift cards) – Household (phone card, first aid kit, flashlight, etc.) – Fun ($25 McDonalds gift card, NYC magnet, etc.) – Spiritual (Bible, rosary, crucifix, etc.) – items for CHILDREN’S BAGS are items for children under 6 (such as bath toys, crayons, pop-up books, etc.) and for children over 6 (yo-yo;s, hair accessories, etc.) For further information, call the Rectory or CRC members Eileen DiBenedetto or Debbie Santalesa (3/12/06)

* * * * * * * * Going away during the summer? Don’t forget to check www.masstimes.org where you can find out where and when you can attend Mass, not only in the U.S., but world-wide. You can also find handy info, such as adoration and confession times, the Saint of the Day, the Daily Prayer, and more. * * * * * * * *

Do You Want to Check Something You Heard in the Readings at Mass?

FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Deuteronomy 30:10-14 Second Reading: Colossians 1:15-20 Gospel: Luke 10:25-37 * * * * * * * * A Reflection – “LOVE THY … NEIGHBOR?” “We can see that the lawyer’s problem is not that he does not know that we are called to love; he just isn’t doing it. There are at least two neighbors whom this lawyer feels completely justified in not loving. One is Jesus. The lawyer isn’t trying to learn from Jesus. The second neighbor whom this lawyer probably feels justified in not loving is any Samaritan. Lawyers considered Samaritans unclean; they were not neighbors. The lawyer is being challenged to examine and grow beyond his prejudices, his negative judgments concerning Samaritans, and therefore, his failure to love people who are, in fact, his neighbors.” – At Home with the Word
