Projects/Proyectos: Lesson about earthquakes.

Students will be passed a sheet with three columns.

-In the first column, they will write / draw what they know about an earthquake.

-In the second, what they would like to learn about the earthquake. Then they

should read or listen to this book on Raz Kids:

Afterwards, the students will create and reproduce their own earthquake

observing what is happening using jelly, chocolates and toothpicks. Students can

watch the video to see how it is built, and then they will create their own model.

1- Review word families with our student's with this video:

Title of the video: Word Family -at | Phonics Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkUunCjP3Hs

You can tell them that a word family is a group of words that end with the same

sound but start with different letters.

2- Ask for some examples from the video.

3- Ask our students, “Why do you think we learn about word families?” Possible

answers might include to spell more words, to help us read, to practice rhyming,

etc.

4- Explain that when we know how to read the ending sound of a word family

word, we can also read any of the other words in the family by changing the first

sound. Tell your students that sometimes you can add a letter to an existing word

to make a new word. For example, in the word “ate” if you add the letter g to the

beginning, it becomes the word “gate.” This is a very different word! Model

creating other words using the same base, for example -ug can become tug or

rug.

5- Play the next game.

Materials:

Pencil

Blank index cards

Page 6: Week #29: Kindergarten Remote Learning Plan March 30

Comunicación Honestidad Respeto Responsabilidad

6

Instructions:

Display the following words on the whiteboard or chart paper: rub, cap, and pin.

Ask students to read each word aloud with you.

Pass out index cards and ask students to change the first letter in each word to

make a new word.

Ask how many words you can form with these words?

6- Complete independently:

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Specials/Especiales: Please follow the Special indicated per day. Please find all

Specials activities for the week at the end of these plans.

Tuesday/Martes

SLAR: Please help your student to review the letter G. To do this, please help your

student show our students the following poem about a very famous painter

named Van Gogh.

Page 7: Week #29: Kindergarten Remote Learning Plan March 30

Comunicación Honestidad Respeto Responsabilidad

7

Students will write and underline all the G's they find in the poem. Then they will

write the words that contain G. And finally, they will write, as they can, a

sentence about Van Gogh and draw a picture of the sentence.

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Projects/Proyectos:

The rest of this week, students will begin working on the final product of their

project.

Today, students will choose a topic from the ones learned about severe weather

(tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes). Once students select the topic, they can

make their first draft consisting of using a large paper, where they can draw a

picture explaining what it is (if it is a hurricane, tornado...) and also draw what

they can do to be safe in case of severe weather.

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Math/matemáticas

Then complete the following activity using:

-Dice: The activity has 6 rows. You will roll one die. Then you will color a shape

from the corresponding line. For example, if you rolled a 3, you would color a

triangle until your color all of them. Have fun!

-If you do not have a dice at home, you can create small cards with the numbers

1-6. The student will randomly select a card instead of rolling a dice.

ELAR/inglés

Your student has a class discussion about story details and retell the story using a

first/next/then/ last format.

1- Read the story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd2b2OoLsb4

Page 9: Week #29: Kindergarten Remote Learning Plan March 30

Comunicación Honestidad Respeto Responsabilidad

9

While reading, ask comprehension questions, such as:

• Look, they are sitting in the window with nothing to do. Do you ever do

that?

• What do you do when it rains?

Return to reading and then ask further questions:

• Ohh, noo. The Cat in the Hat came into their house. Would you let a Cat in

the Hat into your house?

• Would your mother like it? OOOOOO, my mother never let strangers into

our house when she wasn't there.

• Is their mother at home? Hmmm, I wonder what she will say."

Continue to read and ask questions.

2- Writing Activity

"Now that we have read the story, let's sequence the story using the First, Next,

Then and Last the Hat .

3- The students draw the sequence and write sentences.

First, _____________________________________.

Next, _____________________________________.

Then, _____________________________________.

Last, ______________________________________.

Today we will work on dictation. The aim of dictation is for children to strengthen

writing associated with sounds. Therefore, prior to dictation, read these two

books (you can ask for help if you need it.)

Afterwards, the students will take a paper and a pencil, and we will dictate the

words:

Gato-guante-gallo-globo-cañón-piña-caña y ñu.

They should write the words as they can, trying to recognize all the sounds and

write them as they know how.

Then they will be told to choose a word and create a sentence themselves. First

orally and then they will write it. We must remind you that it begins with a capital

letter and it ends at the end.

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Projects/Proyectos:

Watch the following video:

“Textos informativos”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMZepyt3wg8

Later, please help your student: What is an informational text? Encourage

students to use their own words to explain. Next, together write a short

informative text of 4 or 5 sentences on the topic selected by the students. Their

text should answer these questions:

Page 14: Week #29: Kindergarten Remote Learning Plan March 30

Comunicación Honestidad Respeto Responsabilidad

14

• What is it...?

• What can be the consequences of ...?

• What can we do to be safe from a ...?

They will write it as best they can. Tomorrow, the text will be revised and edited.

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Math/matemáticas

Review yesterday’s video about 3D Shapes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GLduNQ5kA4

• Look for food that is different shapes. Can you find a food shaped like a circle? a

square? a rectangle?

• Sort food into different categories • Size • Shape • Weight

• Complete the following activity

• Finally, use marshmallows/playdough and toothpicks/sticks to build 2D and 3D

shapes. You can use string, pasta, and other different materials to create your

shapes.

Friday/Viernes

SLAR: Watch this video recounting the story of Garbancito:

“Garbancito. Ed. KALANDRAKA”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tmVN967gJc

Students will complete the attached activity to review the story. In each question

they must answer with one or more words. They can also add details next to the

picture words about the story.

*Do not forget to take a picture of student work to send via Teams or email.

Projects/Proyectos: review and edit informational text

Please, help your child review their latest draft, using a blue pencil or crayon to

edit the text. Help students pay attention to the sentences, making sure they

begin with a capital letter and have a period at the end.

Afterward, students will pick up a red pencil or crayon to revise. To do this, they

could read the sentences to see if they make complete sense and show some

variety. If corrections need to be made, they will underline the part that needs to

be changed.

Once they have reviewed and edited their draft, students should write the next

draft on a new paper, showing their best work and trying not to make mistakes,

since they have their corrections.
