ABOUT THE TRIBE A new era of Tribe Football will officially begin when the Tribe takes the field under the direction of head coach Mike London at Zable Stadium on Saturday night. Led by five returning all-conference players, W&M will look to improve upon its 4-6 record (3-4, CAA) from a season ago. As many as six players may earn their first career starts on the offensive side, while 10 of the Tribe's projected starters on defense have earned at least one career start. SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS Led by third-year head coach John Garrett, Lafayette posted a 3-8 record last season, including a 2-4 mark in the Patriot League. The Leopards return a pair of all-conference selections on both sides of the ball, highlighted by 2018 PL Rookie of the Year, Malik Hamm, who posted 9.0 sacks and 15.0 TFL as a freshman last season. ABOUT THE SERIES Saturday’s season opener between W&M and Lafayette will mark just the fifth meeting between the two programs. Although the Leopards won the initial matchup, 17-14, in 2012, W&M has claimed the last three meetings. Lafayette’s victory, which came in Williamsburg, was played in steady rain, as lightning forced an hour and twenty-minute delay late in the first quarter. Prior to the teams’ initial meeting in 2012, W&M and Lafayette had combined to play 2,363 games but had never met. Lafayette began playing football in 1882 and claimed national championships in 1896, 1921 and 1926, while W&M fielded its first team in 1893. 13.6 241.5 55.3 186.2 26.2 366.3 176.3 13.0 258.1 87.3 170.8 29.4 348.3 154.3 GAME INFORMATION SERIES HISTORY Overall ..................
