Food Chain

Autotrophs, also known as producers, make up the first level in all food chains which include plants and some aquatic photosynthetic plants. Exs. Grass and Green algae

1st-order-heterotrophs, also known as primary consumers, make up the second level in a food chain and obtain food from photosynthetic organisms. Ex. Turtle

Food Chain

2nd- order heterotrophs also known as secondary consumers, include some carnivores who feed on 1st-order heterotrophs. Ex. Owls feed on fishes

3rd- order heterotrophs also known as tertiary consumers, include carnivores (meat eaters) Ex. Bears
