Please put the date aside. This is an ideal opportunity to have a photo taken of the family in our beautiful rainforest setting. A highly qualified, professional photographer will be taking the photos. A flyer with additional information will be coming home shortly. Please note, all money raised by the P&C goes towards purchasing resources that support your childrens education. Valley School’s Leadership Forum The Valley School’s Leadership Forum will be on next Wednesday, 2nd November at Niagara Park Public School. Our Student Leadership Team will be delivering a presentation about the programs that they have been involved in this year. The Choir will also be performing on the night. A rehearsal will be held on the same day. The school leaders will be rehearsing at 11am. Students should have received a permission note providing more information about the night. Disco Dancing Our disco was a wonderful success last week. A massive thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to organise this event for our students. Thank you must also go to the teachers who supervised the event and assisted where possible. CORE VALUES Over the last fortnight we were learning about our school value of ‘Integrity’. Below are our Core Value award winners.

BOOK CLUB DUE TOMORROW Issue 7 of Book Club is due back at school by tomorrow, 27th October. So far this year due to both Book Club and the Book Fair, we have received well over $2000 worth of reward points to be spent on free resources for our library. Well done and thank you for supporting these programs. NITBUSTERS DAY Thank you to the following volunteers for all their help yesterday at our Nitbusters Day: Jacqui Woods, Katie Robertson, Jane Brooker, Liz Moore, Lynne Dallas, Jane Demellweek, Rachel Lambeck, Melinda Cooper, Denise Long and our coordinator Lorelei Barkley. Your ongoing support of this program is fantastic and it was great to see so many helpers.

Year 1 Parents This term, Year 1 students will be bringing home a Family ACTIVation Pack (one per family) – an awesome pack to get children and parents skilled, active & healthy! The Family ACTIVation Pack is designed to help parents / carers get active with their children by playing quick, easy and fun games at home, in the park or wherever …… games that reinforce the fundamental movement skills already being learnt at school. There are all sorts of tips, ideas and guides for getting active including putting together an ‘Active Home Entertainment Centre’. This resource has been developed by Central Coast Local Health District and supported by the NSW Department of Education. 4000 Family ACTIVation Packs are being distributed to primary schools on the Central Coast during this Term.

For more details check out the website www.healthpromotion.com.au click on Q4:Family Activation Pack. We hope this pack helps families to get skilled, get active and get healthy! SPOTLIGHT ON 1MK! This term, 1MK are studying a new Geography unit based on the Ourimbah Rainforest and its links to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The students are very excited and have already begun exploring the rainforest. Last week, the students read the Aboriginal dreamtime story ‘The Special Platypus’. This dreamtime story is a NSW Central Coast story. We will be investigating a range of dream time stories throughout this term. This story focused on what makes you special. The students drew self-portraits and identified traits that make them special. The students have also started a research project on platypuses and will have them on display later this term.

YEAR 6 MINI FETE The students and teachers of Year 6 would like to thank all OPS students and staff from Kindergarten to Year 5 for their support at the recent Year 6 Mini Fete. The funds raised will go a long way towards covering the costs for the traditional end of year activities for Year 6 as well as a gift to thank the school for the memories over each student's time at OPS. A huge thank you also for the help provided on the day by Mr and Mrs Barkley and Mr and Mrs Dallas. Your time and effort was valued and appreciated by all involved. Finally, a special thank you to Mr Abbott for his ongoing effort with Year 6. The length of time he works on preparing for his role with the fete seems endless and his enthusiasm limitless. We appreciate all that you do. Thanks heaps Mrs Wakelin, Miss Nunn, Mr Edwards and the students of Year 6, 2016.
