Thank you so much to all the children and their families who donated so generously to Oxfam Unwrapped and raised an amazing £207.45, more than doubling last year’s contributions!! As we raised so much this year, we had a surplus amount of money which we have also donated to Oxfam to go towards their projects. The children who contributed would like to wish everyone in the Longroyde community a Merry Christmas, as their donations were in lieu of buying Christmas cards and gifts, and they are really happy that their money will be spent in such a worthwhile manner.I would just like to add personally that it was an absolute pleasure to meet with all these children, and listen to their discussions. I am so proud of them. Have a lovely Christmas everyone, Mrs Mitchell.

S Mitchell, PSHE Co-ordinator

School Swimathon At LJS we are taking part in the Calderdale School Swimathon. Some of our Year 4 children are more fish than human looking at the amazing distances they can swim. Top of the tree at the moment is Gracie Newsome with 200m closely followed by Alicia Howells at 150m. The other talented swimmers taking part are Trudy Brame, Libby Bush, Brynelle D’Arcy, Georgia Cooke, Kailah Pearson, Cameron Travers, Miah Ellis-Roberts, Harvey Beiley, Emily Roberts, Tilly Denney and Kirsten Cole. Good luck to all the children, we look forward to more news as time goes on. I understand from Mrs Cassell that there are some pretty amazing prizes to be won.

Water bottles continue to be an important piece of equipment in school. Please make sure that your child has one each day.

Do you recognise these jolly chaps pictured on Y6’s visit to the Castle Museum in York?

We were all very impressed with Y6’s needlework last week. Like this one, there were some fabulous examples.

LJS Christmas Fayre It was standing room only on Tuesday as we geared up for the annual Christmas Fayre. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way either by bringing items in selling them or buying them. We raised the magnificent sum of £713 for school funds. This money goes directly back to the children to make trips cheaper etc. Thank you.
