There are occasions in each day when children read and like planners and PE kits they need to be in school. Can we encourage parents to read with their children every day. We have been fortunate this week that one of Britain’s foremost ‘bloggers’ has agreed to write a book review for us. Normally she can be found on the internet reviewing the latest lipstick, perfume or other cosmetic product (see www.Blogspot) but through a contact, we have been able to get her to review one of our library books.

Here is what Jessica Grace thought of…

Matilda by Roald DahlRoald Dahl is the master of feel-good children's stories, so much so that even at the age of 22 I'm still enjoying his books. Matilda is a story full of humour and adventure. By the age of 5 Matilda is reading books far beyond her years and can easily do calculations in her head. She's quite simply brilliant even though her family fail to realise it. When Matilda starts school she impresses Miss Honey, her sweet and caring new teaching, by showing off her knowledge. Despite the looming presence of the no nonsense Headteacher, Miss Trunchbowl, who seems to think Matilda is nothing special, Matilda confidently navigates her way through a new school and forms a bond with Miss Honey. In the end it is a bond that saves them both from nasty families and proves Matilda to be a real heroin. If you learn anything from Matilda it should be this: it doesn't matter who you are, you can do it.

Thank you Jessica Grace! (Ed)

As you can see, our staff can turn their hands to most things and thank goodness that they can! Here Mrs Richmond-Flinn is seen doubling up in the server when we were short-staffed this week. Mr Hurst and Mrs Owen also helped in Hooters and other staff have covered other duties. Thank you.
