Job Description Job title Senior Manager, Strategy Team Strategy, Economics and Business Development Band 5 Reporting to Director Strategy and Business Development Management responsibility None Purpose of the job Contribute to the development of the Bank strategy based on analysis of key markets, technological change and market trends and needs. Manage multiple strategy projects in varying stages of development for typical durations of 3 to 18 months. You will have responsibilities for multiple strategy work streams. Assist to translate Government policy priorities into a strategy for the Bank that fits the Bank’s remit and funding envelope, including running horizon scanning projects to identify further opportunities for the Bank. Main duties (but not limited to) Manage multiple strategy projects in varying stages of development for durations of 3 to 18 months, sometimes with responsibility for multiple work streams within each. Help translate Government policy priorities into a strategy for the Bank that fits the Bank’s remit and funding envelope, including Maintaining regular dialogue with policy officials in Government and work to incorporate that input into the Bank’s actions and plans Managing effective strategic planning process Modelling financial performance for the business plan Run horizon scanning projects to identify further opportunities for the Bank, by analysing market data, working with external parties and speaking to colleagues across the Bank and Government On an ad hoc basis, support delivery of new product propositions in collaboration with business development, functional and business unit colleagues, as well as external delivery partners Keep up to date with developments in the FS and SME market and related sectors. Analyse trends across the marketplace and shifts in customer needs to develop strategies capable of managing the threats and opportunities General team based structured problem solving Presentation preparation in both Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, and internal or external stakeholder engagement Knowledge and experience

Presentation preparation in both Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, and internal or external stakeholder engagement

Knowledge and experience

Financial services or asset management experience with a good understanding of FS balance sheet works and key FS performance drivers

Demonstrate interest and familiarity within a broad FS product set

Interest and experience in products used by smaller businesses, and the structuring thereof

Experience working in a strategy consulting firm, corporate strategy department of a FS company or asset manager, policy unit of public sector entity including familiarity with strategy development elements (e.g. hypothesis generation, economic analysis, fact gathering, options development and assessment)

Strong commercial sense and demonstrated pragmatism.

Ability to work across disciplines within the Bank and with external stakeholders.

Ability to communicate clearly, by advising senior management and other stakeholders in a structured, convincing and concise way on the analysis conducted, conclusions and recommendations

Ability to translate work into jargon-free language where required for stakeholders.

Competent with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
