Welcome to your Children’s Activity pack and we thank you for showing your support to the Musselburgh Virtual Festival.

In the pack you will find a selection of activities that you could carry out throughout festival week. Some of the activities are indoor and some are outdoor and they should all keep you very busy. As you prepare for any the activities suggested in this pack,

please adhere to all Scottish Government guidelines on social gatherings and physical distancing.

Each activity will have clear instructions but if you need any additional help please email the address below and we will get back to you as soon as we can. If you would like to share any of your activities you could take a photograph, send them to us and

we will post them on our Facebook page (remember to get permission from your grown-ups at home!).

Find the Musselburgh LandmarkThere are seven clues for you to find landmarks in Musselburgh. One for each day of the festival. Work out the clues, go to the landmark and get your photo taken next to the landmark. When you have all your photos, email them to us and we will post them on our Facebook page.Good Luck. Clue 1 - I date back to the 18th Century and I am in a central place,Public proclamations happened here where you would see an important face.At the very top of me I honestly tell no liesI am absolutely sure you can see lots of blue and white ties. Where am I?

Clue 2 - People come to me when it is very hot and they have had some fun. They come to wash the sand off their feet when the day is done.I am also used by thirsty travellers on their way backAfter stopping off at Sizzlers for a very tasty snack.Where am I?

Clue 3 - Musselburgh prom is where you will find meI am not alone but with my friend as you will seeI represent one of the famous traditions and industries of our townSo get to the harbour come on down. Where am I?

Clue 4 - I am on one side of the River Esk looking over to my special targetI represent a competitor of the oldest sporting trophy yet. As the year goes by the people of Musselburgh take care of meKeeping me warm with hats, scarves and kilts for people to see.

Clue 5I give directions for different places to go. Lewisvale Park and Inveresk Lodge are two places I show. I also suggest going to the tennis court and putting greenI am right outside the National Trust Gardens, that is where I am seen.Where am I?

Clue 6I am one of the open champions that played at our famous golf courseYou will find me on the wall of the golf clubhouse, that’s your source.It was special because Inveresk was where I was born and grew upI won the competition in 1874 and lifted the cup.Where am I?

Clue 7I am found at the top of the hill up lots of steps to be fairThe Romans occupied where I am before I was thereLot of people come to me for weekly services and prayerKirkin is held here during festival week where we celebrate and share.Where am I?

Happy Festival CardDesign a card for your neighbour or friend wishing them a happy Virtual Musselburgh Festival 2020. Think about all the different events we usually celebrate and while we can’t do them this year make sure your friend and neighbours can enjoy the activities we are putting on for you and what they have to look forward to next year. You can take a photo of your card, or even better if the person you have sent it too takes a photo with a wee thank you, we will post it on the Festival page.
