Currently, GFOA has more than 18,000 members who look to the association to provide expert assistance on accounting, auditing, and financial reporting issues for state and local governments. Individuals with the necessary technical, writing and training skills also will be invited to write articles and publications, develop training materials, and participate as instructors in GFOA training.

Required Qualifications: GFOA is looking for a candidate with:

• A Bachelor’s Degree; Accounting course grade point average of 3.3 or higher; Cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher; At least two years of experience in the practice of state and local government accounting or auditing; • A thorough knowledge of authoritative accounting and financial reporting standards for state and local

governments and their practical application; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Attention to detail and technical proficiency; Proven history of successful team membership and contributions; Experience with the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement Program, either as a financial statement

preparer, auditor, or Certificate Reviewer.

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent research and writing abilities; Experience in public speaking and making presentations; Sufficient Accounting hours to sit for the C.P.A. exam; Designation as a Certified Public Accountant or an equivalent professional designation.

Compensation: The salary for this position will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and scope of responsibilities. Salary is competitive for the Chicago area, and GFOA offers an excellent package of benefits.
