Unit 9 developing animation evaluation Darren Reeves

My animation was a longer process than I thought it would be. I had different types of animation ideas that I use and practiced with. The animations that I used were cut-outs and CAD computer animated design/ both. Originally I had the idea of cutting out images of (iron man) and creating my own back ground of (New York City) which then I placed into Photoshop to edit together. But after the first try john, my teacher said I needed more shots and to make it longer. So after that I didn’t want to take a camera out again and to redo the long process of taking more shots for the animation.so what I did was created the animation in Photoshop with the same concept of cut outs but created with a CAD.

In my opinion creating the animation in Photoshop was much easier and more professional to do because using images from the internet and cutting them out in Photoshop (with the polygonal lasso tool) which made every layer and Image go great with each other in addition using this method it made it quicker and made me able to create more of a story which I really enjoyed doing in this project. In the animation it features multiple images of, backgrounds, characters, side objects and explosions in my opinion these features would not really have appeared in my original plan of cut-outs because of the time restraints. The things I would like to improve if there was more time would be making more shots/ layers to make it smother and also make each layer faster to make it even more smother in my editing I did chunks of sections and made it faster and added more layers but because of time restraints it made me rush curtain parts which I didn’t want to do. In my opinion this was my most favourite unit because I had a topic with more freedom and creativity and in doing so I learnt more about animation and how easy it is to create an animation without using a camera and

also I learnt a lot of skills in Photoshop which I learnt from YouTube which gave me more independence and in my opinion helped me learn more and made me pass on the knowledge I learnt from YouTube to class mates when they needed it.

In my final animation I managed to add music to which I think made my animation even cooler because I added to the story, I got all the music from a music converter: http://convert2mp3.net/en/

The reason why I didn’t really like creating the animation where I cut out and created the backgrounds myself was because it didn’t feel like it was real and because my main character in the animation was iron man so I wanted to make this animations feel like watching one of the marvel movies (iron man) and making the animation out of cut-outs from the internet and making the background out of card felt like I was making a animation. So I wanted to see if I could do the same concept cut outs put done in Photoshop so creating a CAD with cut-out links. But after making the animation in Photoshop it felt like watching a live action movie because of the real images it made it look like a marvel movie, sure it was choppy because I didn’t make it fast enough or have as many layers but this is my first official animation so I didn’t want to take up to much time animating than talking about the process I took but overall I am really proud of my animation because I had fun creating it in Photoshop.

To conclude I really enjoyed the process of creating an animation in Photoshop. But I did have issues at the beginning of creating a cut-out animation by taking photos of the scene and creating a long enough story but I learnt from them ideas so I could place them into my new animation of CAD which made be enjoy and learn a lot from this unit a lot more.
