5. Activating the Polycom Via Video software

Please out some time (1 hour) aside to go through the activation process. It is much easier to go through this process in one session.

Why do you need to activate the product? If you try to use the Polycom software before activating it you will only be given five minutes to make a call. You will need to be online to activate the product.

There are several different stages to this process.

1. You will first be asked to enter an Activation Key Code to activate the product.

2. To get an activation key code you will need to logon to the Polycom website and open a new user account. You will be asked to complete some details related to the product.

3. Having registered a new user account you can then register your camera on the site.

4. Having registered your product (camera) a key code will then be generated to allow you to activate the product.

5. You can now go back to the beginning of the process and activate the camera using the key code.

6. The camera can now be used for more than five minutes at any time.

6. Activating the Polycom software

Step 1If the camera window is open on the desk top, close the window down before you proceed any further.

Click on the polycom icon on your desktop, when you see this message click on the activate button to proceed.

To activate the software you will need to be online it will take some time to do this(about 1 hour), make sure you set time aside to do this as you should try to complete the activation in one process.

Step 2The first thing you will be asked to do is to obtain an Activation Key Code by going to the Polycom resource Centre at the web site. Click on the Polycom button, which will take you to the web site.

At this point (if you have not already done so, make a note of the licence number, which you will find on your camera box. Add this to your checklist, see section 2. This will be needed later in the installation process together with the Activation Key Code, which you will generate from the web site.

Step 3

The first time you log on to the website you will be asked for a user ID and a password.At this point you will not have either of these you will therefore need to get a New User Account.

Click on this option on the web page (See the following screen shot ).

A. Click on the option New User Account.

Step 4Complete all of the details on the contact information form.

Step 5Before you can activate the product you must now register it.Having entered all of the details required, select Register Product from the on screen list.

Step 6At this stage you will be asked to choose the product, which you are registering. In the box next to product model, click on the downward pointing arrow. A list of products will appear for you to choose from. From the list select Via Video (See Step 7).

Step 7From the drop down menu, select Via Video.

Serial number of camera.

Step 9If you have registered all the details correctly you will receive a message to tell you that your registration has been successful.

Step 10Click on ‘product activation on the menu to the left of the screen.

Having entered the details of your serial number, click on the ‘Register’ button.

Step 8Enter the serial number, (including the dashes) of your camera in the box next to serial number. (Look underneath the camera to find the serial number, Make a note of this number and add it to your checklist, see section 2).

Step 11Having registered your product you can now generate a Key Code to activate your camera.

Enter your licence number (The one you took from the camera box at the beginning of this section).

Enter the serial number of the camera (The one which you took from the base of the camera).

Click inside the box ‘First time installation’.

Click on the ‘Generate’ button to receive your activation Key

Step 12You will now receive your activation key code.

Please record this on your checklist, (see section 2).

Close down the website

Step 13You now have all the information which you need in order to activate your camera.

Double click on the Polycom software icon on the desktop of your PC. You will see the following message which you received in Step 1 of this section. At this point select the ‘Activate’ button.

Step 14At the following screen you are now able to enter the licence number (from the camera box) and the Activation Key Code, (which you have just received) from the web site.

Click on the activate button to activate the camera.

You camera is now activated and can be used for more than five minutes at a time. Close the camera window.
