Keywords: common names and larval feeding habits differ, Ophiomyia phaseoli is a cortex feeder, O. centrosematis overlaps with O. phaseoli in Indonesia, Taiwan, and East Africa, O. spencerella oviposits in the hypocotyl at ground level, Melanagromyza sojae feeds in the pith and larval mines are nearly invisible, M. dolichostigma larvae feed on growing tips of stems when plants are five weeks or older, M. obtusa larvae do not feed in plant stems but rather feeds inside the pods of pigeonpea where it pupates
