Week of: 03/30/2020Subject: WritingStandard: K.W.2: Objective: I can write about something I know. Students Complete 1. Write a 3-5 sentence about a farm

animal. The sentences should be something like this:

a. Introduction to the topic: one farm animal.

b. 3 things they know about one farm animal.

c. Conclusion to the topic: one farm animal

Example: There are a lot of farm animals. Chickens lay eggs. They eat feed. Chickens have wings. Chickens are a farm animal.

2. Write first, then draw a picture. Make sure the picture matches the words.

For my example, I would draw a chicken’s wing. This can be labeled to show the parts.

3. Can use the tree map to help organize the writing more.

made because of scarcity.Objective: I can identify wants. Students Complete Discuss with students how they get things

at the store. Who pays for it? What aresome things you want from the store?

1. Tell students that humans want a lot of things. Explain that the list you just made is a good example of all the wants we have.

2. Read Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts.

3. Discuss with student what Jeremey wants from the store. (Keep the focus on hiswants vs. his need. The book will be referenced again in lesson 2.)4. Have student illustrate 4 wants.

5. Discuss making choices with thestudents. Can we have all ourwants? What if we have todecide on only one? Discuss which one they want the most.

6. Wrap up with an explanation of the learning to come, a study of wants and needs is called Economics.

3. The students will continue to think about items in their lives that they need.

4. Show students the large house picture so they can look closely at all of the items inside. Discuss which of the items are wants and which are needs.
