The camera zooms in and rotates onto the figure of Kiera Knightley, lying naked in bed and waking up. As the camera zooms from wide angle to close up it rotates through 180 degrees, to go from a weird disconcerting upside down angle to being the right way up as she meets our gaze, looking directly into the camera. The music ripple descending the scale, moving down to start the song, as the camera moves down.

The odd angle attracts the attention, to try and workout what’s going on. The ripple of the musical intro also leads you into the shot. As the actress looks you in the eye, the direct address invites you to respond and continue looking. This also places us in an intimate situation as she is naked, and private in bed. The preferred reading may be to be with her, or to be like her, depending on the spectator’s gender and sexuality.

Establishing shot and overhead rotating shot

The camera takes an above shot of the city during the night when it’s dark and the camera is rotating around a sky scraper. Down below you can see the continuous lives of the people carrying on (the cars driving) which makes them seem innocent.

The weird rotating angle makes the audience confused as to what’s happening. The dark night life makes it seem sinister, also drawing the audience’s attention.

Medium shot to under-angle shot

The camera starts a medium shot of the actor, zooming in and under to create an under-angle with the shot never going above the actor’s head.

The shot establishes that this is the main character and the under-angle gives him power and dominance, making the audience question his importance.

Close-up shot

The camera zooms into a close-up shot of the guitar that’s being played by the character.

The guitar has connotation of rock n roll and being cool so the audience would see that the actor is cool and would wanna be cool like him, drawing them more into the advert.

Long shot

The camera zooms out to create a long shot of the city. As shown, the car is driving away from the city along a bridge.

This shot captures the audience’s attention as into wondering where the character is travelling to, why and what he’s gonna do.

Depth of field

The depth of field shot shows the sky, desert and car front all in one. The buffalo is the centre of the shot to draw attention to it.

Medium shot

The actor has parked his car in the middle of the desert and the camera focuses on him taking a spade out the boot of the car.

This shot focuses on a new element being added to the video- that the actor has something planned that he's going to do. This captures the audience's attention as they're intrudged as to what he's going to do.

Long shot and overhead shot

The camera zooms out to show how large the desert is compared to the actor.

This makes the actor seem inferior compared to the massive desert as he blends into the desert as the camera zooms on him. However it also makes him seem strong as he’s capable of facing such a large desert alone.

Medium shot

The camera shot shows the actor taking off his jewellery.

This makes the audience question why he’s taking off his jewellery and what he’s going to do with it. Therefore the audience’s attention has been grabbed.

Close-up shot

The camera zooms in to the actor’s hands to show him throwing his jewellery onto the floor. This shows that the jewellery must have some sort of significance.

This shot intrudges the audience as to why the actor would be throwing his jewellery away. It could mean that he wants a clean slate.

Pack shot

The camera shot in the background zooms out and fades into the shadows to make the perfume bottle stands out.

The bottle is in the middle of the shot to make it the main focus point and it has a spotlight on it to garb the audience’s attention.
