KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dan diBartolomeo President and Founder, Northfield Information Services, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts Based in Boston since 1986, Northfield develops quantitative models of financial markets. Dan is a Visiting Professor at the CARISMA research center of Brunel University in London. Mr. diBartolomeo has written extensively for the CFA Research Foundation. This work includes a new wealth management textbook Investment Management for Private, Taxable Wealth (with Jarrod Wilcox and Jeffrey Horvitz). He also provided a chapter on asset allocation for high-net worth individuals for CFA’s recent book, Global Perspectives on Investment Management. He received his degree in applied physics from Cornell University.

Charles Ellis Director, Greenwich Associates, Connecticut Charles D. Ellis serves as a consultant to large institutional investors, government organizations, and wealthy families. He also serves as Managing Partner of a pro bono partnership, The Partners of ’63. Charley’s professional career centered on three decades with Greenwich Associates, the international strategy consulting firm he founded in 1972. He was Chair and two terms as governor of the CFA Institute and an associate editor of both The Journal of Portfolio Management and The Financial Analysts Journal. He is the author of 12 books, including Joe Wilson and the Creation of Xerox, CAPITAL and Winning the Loser’s Game. A graduate of Exeter and Yale College, Charley earned an MBA (with distinction) at Harvard Business School and a Ph.D. at New York University.

Jason Hsu Director, Research & Investment Management, Research Affiliates, Pasedena Jason Hsu manages all investment operations associated with the firm's sub-advisory and hedge fund businesses. In addition, he oversees research on the asset allocation models and equity strategies that underpin RA's Fundamental Indexation concept. Jason worked closely with Robert Arnott to originate the Research Affiliates Fundamental Index(TM) methodology. Jason is currently a visiting professor at the Paul Merage School of Management at the University of California, Irvine. Jason earned his Ph.D. in finance at the University of California, Los Angeles.

John Mauldin President, Millennium Wave Investments, Arlington, Texas As a recognized expert and leader on investment issues, John Mauldin is primarily involved in private money management, financial services, and investments. John is a prolific author, writer and editor of the free popular Thoughts from the Frontline e-letter which goes to well over 1,000,000 readers weekly. He is also a frequent contributor to other financial publications and a frequent guest on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. His book, Bull's Eye Investing rose to the New York times best seller list, while his latest book, Just One Thing, was released in late October 2006. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.

Dr. John Nofsinger

Lang Fellow and Associate Professor of Finance, Washington State University, Spokane John is an Associate Professor of Finance at Washington State University. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from Washington State University and first taught at Marquette University. His research focuses on behavioral finance, and institutional and individual investors. John has published more than 30 scholarly articles and is also the author (or coauthor) of six books with translations into five languages. His book, The Psychology of Investing, is required reading for the CFA Level III exam.

Scott Welch Senior Managing Director, Fortigent, LLC, Washington, DC Fortigent provides outsourced wealth management solutions to banks, independent advisory firms, and “break away brokers”. He oversees Fortigent’s 15 Research professionals and is the Chair of the Investment Committee, Product Development Committee, and Investment Quality Assurance Committee. Mr. Welch is a frequent speaker on wealth management topics and regularly authors industry-related articles that appear in numerous trade journals. Mr. Welch is a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Journal of Wealth Management and the IMCA Monitor. Mr. Welch earned a MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
