We just finished our fourth session of Endurance, which always seems to leave me feeling a little sad and a lot exhausted. I'm going to take a brief moment to share with you how and why Endurance came about. As a runner who is always looking to improve and grow in the sport, I subscribe to a few different things that give tips, tricks and hints from pros on how to do so, as well as a few “uplifting and encouraging” articles. I read about these people forming groups who run their cities, to save their cities. Or groups formed to run for the homeless. And then there are groups formed to run in order to save the wildlife of that area. Now there is nothing wrong with any of those groups, but it did get me thinking, why aren't there any groups running for the Lord? My runs are often times used for meditating on what I read in Gods word that morning, or praying for my gaggle of nieces and nephews. Then one run after the other I began praying for a group of Christians to be formed who ran together for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God's name, a group who accepted the lost and shared the gospel with them. I found myself reading these “encouraging” articles in search of just such a group, but I found none. This began to weigh very heavy on my heart and the more I prayed, the more the Lord began to work on me. You see I did not look out at HBF and say “my goodness, they need to be whipped into shape”, but rather I looked out into our community and saw, “they need the Lord”. Endurance is a way to help people hear about the love of Christ as they strive to get into shape. Our goal isn't to make people skinny, (that's just a bonus) our goal is to bring lost souls to Christ. We rejoice with the angels (Luke 15:10) over the two salvation's Endurance has seen so far and we pray for many more. We also pray for members of our community to join us for the next session. At the end of each session we run/walk a 5k. This session we ran/walked the “Heroes for Hospice 5k”. Our tiny group of five ranged in age from 9 years old to 62 years old, and for the majority it was their first 5k. The air was thick, but God provided cloud cover to protect us from the heat of the sun, making for a pleasant run/walk.

We just finished our fourth session of Endurance, which always seems to leave me feeling a little sad and a lot exhausted.

I'm going to take a brief moment to sharewith you how and why Endurance came

about.

As a runner who is always looking to improve and grow in the sport, I subscribe to a few different things that

give tips, tricks and hints from pros on how to do so, as well as a few “uplifting and encouraging” articles. I read about these people forming groups who run their cities, to save their cities. Or groups

formed to run for the homeless. And thenthere are groups formed to run in order tosave the wildlife of that area. Now there is nothing wrong with any of those

groups, but it did get me thinking, why aren't there any groups running for the Lord? My runs are often times used for meditating on what I read in Gods word that morning, or praying for my gaggle of

nieces and nephews. Then one run after the other I began praying for a group of Christians to be formed who ran together for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God's name, a group who accepted the lost and shared the gospel with them. I found myself reading these “encouraging” articles in search

of just such a group, but I found none. This began to weigh very heavyon my heart and the more I prayed, the more the Lord began to work on

me.

You see I did not look out at HBF and say “my goodness, they need to be

whipped into shape”, but rather I looked out into our community andsaw, “they need the Lord”. Endurance is a way to help people hear about

the love of Christ as they strive to get into shape. Our goal isn't to makepeople skinny, (that's just a bonus) our goal is to bring lost souls to

Christ.

We rejoice with the angels (Luke 15:10)over the two salvation's Endurance hasseen so far and we pray for many more.We also pray for members of ourcommunity to join us for the next session.

At the end of each session we run/walk a 5k. This session we ran/walked the “Heroes for Hospice 5k”. Our tiny group of five rangedin age from 9 years old to 62 years old, and for the majority it was their first 5k.

The air was thick, but God provided cloud cover to protect us from the heat of the sun, making for a pleasant run/walk.

Our next session starts August 21st. The 5k we have chosen is puton by one of our sister churches, Midtown Baptist. The moneyraised goes to three different orphanages, one being the Nepalorphanage (Hope Family) which we are all acquainted with.

It would be incredible to have a large number of HBF folks comeand participate in this 5k.(For more info email: [email protected]

And please help us pray as we prepare for the fall session of

Endurance.
