What is “WATER”???

Water is a transparent fluid which forms the world's streams, lakes, oceans and rain, and is the major constituent of the fluids of living things.

For more information, water consist of one oxygen molecule & two hydrogen molecule.

Water & its Composition.

Distribution of Earth’s Water.

Importance of Water in Human Body

Two third constituent of human body is dependent on water.

Water serves as a major agent of detoxification.

Water provides for effective lubrication.

Water has its part to play in the transportation of nutrients.

Water controls the functioning of different anatomical units comprising human body.

Water Consumption by Human Body

What is the daily requirement of water for human body???

On a regular basis, human body needs 2 to 2.5 liters of water.

It is important to note in this regard that food items with enriched moisture also add to the body’s need for water.

Thus consumption of food item leads to the intake of 1 liter of water.

So it is important that drinking water takes care of the remaining water supply varying from 1.5 to 2 liters is provided.

Daily Requirement of Water for Human Body

Water requirement by men, women and children

While men’s need for water can vary between eleven to thirteen cups, women’s requirement for water need not be more than nine to ten cups.

Similarly growing children require additional amount of water to sustain their fast pace of growth .

Amount of water lost by individual person also becomes one of the determining factors.

What are the Natural Sources of Water?

For many decades people were wondering about the source of water, but the answer took long time. Today, we live in an era when all scientists tell us that wars of the future will be for the water. So , the sources of water are mentioned below:

Rain Water

Underground Water

Surface Water

Natural Resources of Water

Surface water

Rain Water

Underground Water

Differnce between Fresh & Portable Water

Fresh Water is naturally occurring water on the Earth's surface in ice sheets, ice caps, glaciers, icebergs, bogs, ponds, lakes, rivers and streams, and underground as groundwater in aquifers and underground streams.

Portable Water water which is fit for consumption by humans and other animals. It is also called drinking water, in a reference to its intended use

What is Water Cycle???

The water cycle describes the existence and movement of water on, in, and above the Earth. Earth's water is always in movement and is always changing states, from liquid to vapor to ice and back again. The water cycle has been working for billions of years and all life on Earth depends on it continuing to work; the Earth would be a pretty stale place to live without it.

What is Water Harvesting???

Rainwater harvesting is a technique used for collecting, storing, and using rainwater for landscape irrigation and other uses. The rainwater is collected from various hard surfaces such as roof tops and/or other types of manmade above ground hard surfaces.

Why should we Save Water???

Did you know that less than 1% of all the water on Earth can be used by people? The rest is salt water (the kind you find in the ocean) or is permanently frozen and we can't drink it, wash with it, or use it to water plants.

As our population grows, more and more people are using up this limited resource. Therefore, it is important that we use our water wisely and not waste it.
