Enjoy the demo, as our weighmaster Jackie leads you through our program showing you just how easy it is to use WasteWORKS.
Access and Accountability Jackie is entering the default password so
we can continue into the program. Upon access into the program we can set every user up with their own personal log in and password. This allows us to:
– To keep unauthorized users from accessing the program.
– The logon ID will be marked on every ticket keeping track of everything the user does while in the program.
– Individual permissions set for each user.
– WasteWORKS-SQL provides an additional layer of security, requiring Windows or SQL Server Authentication for access to the database.
On the WasteWORKS screen you can see that Jackie is unable to open certain features due to her permission settings in the program.
At the Top of the program you can see that her Log-on ID is being used, which allows users and management to know who is logged on to each WasteWORKS computer.
It all begins with Ticketing
Entering tickets is easy with WasteWORKS. Jackie’s first customer is a red pickup truck hauling shingles, three tires and a washing machine.
Jackie begins by entering “RED TRUCK” in the reference field. (Although Jackie’s screen is set up to handle lots of information, you can decide which fields your weighmaster’s should process.)
Next, Jackie chooses a material by typing the first letter of the word “shingles” and then tabs off the field. WasteWORKS provides a list of materials that is arranged in alphabetical order.
The customer tells Jackie that the load is from Hanover County, so Jackie selects that origin from another popup list. WasteWORKS can also track the grid location for materials buried at this location or temporarily stored for later disposal elsewhere.
Now Jackie is ready to enter the other items on the truck…
Jackie selects passenger tires this time. We charge $5 per tire for these types of tires, but we charge by the ton for bulk tires from dealers.
Materials can be set up for weight, volume, flat rate, or fill-in rates in WasteWORKS.
When Jackie selects passenger tires, WasteWORKS knows the grid should be Tire Pile and prompts Jackie for the number of tires.
Jackie enters three, and tabs to the next field, and WasteWORKS automatically calculates the dollar amount for the tires.
Jackie adds the washing machine to the ticket and is ready to move onto the next part of the ticket.
To get the weight of the truck we will hit the Next button which will move us to the next step.
Jackie presses the 1 button and WasteWORKS reads the weight directly from Scale #1. WasteWORKS can communicate with up to 8 scales per site.
Jackie then clicks the Hold button. This places the ticket in the hold file and clears the current ticket screen, preparing for the next customer!
The next customer is a private hauler. The vehicle wearing ID tag# 14-192 is already in our files, as is its owner New Hanover Disposal.
The load contains municipal solid waste from two origins: the driver tells Jackie that 60% is from New Hanover and the rest is from Pender County.
WasteWORKS can handle up to 10 items per ticket, and the weight can be split among those items however you like.
WasteWORKS even checks to make sure that weight based loads always totals to 100%.
Vehicle 14-131 has a stored tare weight of 32220 pounds, so only the gross weight is required to finish the ticket.
WasteWORKS calculates the net weight and figures up the total charge, including any taxes or fees that might apply to the materials in the ticket, then prints the ticket. WasteWORKS can also handle contract pricing and special discounts.

Now the red Ford truck returns for exit weighing.
Jackie presses the Get held button to see all the incomplete tickets on hold and quickly selects the Red Truck by pressing <Enter>.
WasteWORKS automatically pulls up the held ticket , which includes the information about the red pickup that Jackie entered previously.
Jackie presses the scale button to read the tare weight from the outbound lane. All that is left to do is collect the money!
The driver hands Jackie a one hundred dollar bill and WasteWORKS calculates their change automatically.
WasteWORKS can also handle check and credit cards if the driver chooses to pay with those methods. You can even select “Split” and accept two forms of payment on a single transaction.
The next vehicle on the scale is hauling an outbound material, meaning the outbound weight of this vehicle will be greater than its inbound weight.
If the vehicle was set up with a tare weight in the system, WasteWORKS would input the tare in the “Weight In” field automatically.

Our outbound truck has returned with the load of MSW OUT.
Jackie weighs the truck, which is now heavier than when it came in. WasteWORKS calculates the amount due and Jackie finishes the ticket.
You have a choice between preprinted tickets or thermal receipts with WasteWORKS. WasteWORKS preprinted tickets print on virtually any laser printer!
An example preprinted ticket is shown on this slide.

During the course of the shift, Jackie or a manager can easily check on the day’s progress on screen. (The multi-user option of WasteWORKS allows more than one person to work on the same data at a time.)
The Batch Summary provides five different summaries of today’s batch. The view here is by customer account #.
And Material, Vehicle and Weighmaster summaries are only a mouse click away!
Jackie can void tickets that are still in today’s batch if necessary, but Jackie must provide a reason in order to void the ticket.
The voided ticket and reason are listed on the Batch Close Report printed at the end of the shift, so no tickets (or money!) just “disappear.”
At the end of the shift the batch is closed out, producing an End of Day report which contains all activity for the day.
WasteWORKS can be set up for stand-alone operation or for use at multiple waste sites that update a central billing office.

WasteWORKS isn’t just a ticketing system. WasteWORKS comes standard with an integrated receivables system for billing, posting payments and account management. (Your CPA will love the accounting controls!)
This slide shows how easy it is to generate late fees for delinquent accounts
WasteWORKS provides maximum flexibility for setting up customer accounts.
In this example, Wrightsville Disposal Service is a charge customer with a credit limit of $99,999,999.99 (unlimited). They are subject to state and county taxes as well as late fees. The material their trucks usually haul is MSW (municipal solid waste).
Complete accounting information is available on screen. Look up the account by name or by account #, and WasteWORKS shows you an on-screen account summary. Jackie can simply double click on any transaction to see all the details of the particular ticket, payment or adjustment.
Once information is entered into WasteWORKS, it is always available.
You can find any ticket as long as you know something about it. Such as the date of the ticket or the ticket number itself.
WasteWORKS supports both Invoicing or Statement billing, and makes printing both a breeze.
If you choose to use balance forward accounting, with all payments just applied to the outstanding customer balance, then you’d print a balance forward statement similar to the one shown here.
But if you must post customer payments against specific invoices, WasteWORKS can also handle open invoice accounting. The open invoice statement is also similar to the one shown.

The next few slides shows some screenshots of WasteWORKS Management Reports.
The WasteWORKS standard reports provide many options for your reporting needs: range of dates, which site locations to be included, the layout of the report whether it be summarized or detailed, etc.
Reports also allow you to look at a specific group of customers and/or types of materials, based on the filters that can be set up.
The Material Analysis Report is just one of the many management reports that provide valuable information to help you with scheduling, setting fees, and reporting to regulatory agencies.
WasteWORKS comes complete with lots of reports, but maybe we missed the one your boss needs yesterday. No problem! WasteWORKS also includes a full-featured report writer.
Creating a custom report with WasteWORKS is as easy as 1-2-3: select the table, pick the fields, and choose the sort criteria.
And the WasteWORKS report wizard generates a report template for you. If you wish, you can change the column headings, modify the fonts, rearrange the columns, etc., to your heart’s content. And best of all, you can save the template if you need to access it in the future.
WasteWORKS Graphs
A stacked bar graph by day of the week can quickly show you the number of tickets processed at each waste site during August. Should the Catalina Transfer facility be closed on Saturdays? You make the decisions, so you need the information.(You can also customize graphs for reports exported to Excel!)
Here’s a quick way to see the percentages of outbound tonnage handled. You could click the To Clipboard button to send this graph to the Windows clipboard, then just paste it into that word processing document you’re preparing for your directors.
What times of day are busiest at the Hwy 421 landfill? Just click the Print button for a printed copy.
And for even more flexible graphing capabilities, WasteWORKS reporting information may be exported to Excel, where graphing options are nearly unlimited!
