The Lady Blues will be back in action on Saturday at Colorado State-Pueblo.Washburn could not get anything going offensively as they were outshot by the Ore-diggers 18 to 5 including a 12-3 mark in the second half. Washburn’s Ashley Klone recorded seven saves in net for the Lady Blues allowing the two goals.Ashley Taylor, Angela Wiseman, Lauren Henry, Tia Stovall and Stefanie Stuever re-corded the five shots and Stuever’s attempt was the only shot on goal attempted by the Lady Blues.

Aug. 29 - PUEBLO, Colo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 4-1 win over Colorado State-Pueblo to even its record at 1-1 on the season. The Lady Blues will be off from games until Sept. 7 when they will take on Newman in Wichita, Kan.The Lady Blues took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute when Keeley Lambeth scored off an assist from Stefanie Stuever. However, 1:58 later, the ThunderWolves tied the score on a Kara Morton penalty kick.The Lady Blues would score three unanswered goals as Leah Talley scored off an assist from Tia Stovall in the 56th minute and Ashley Taylor and Brandy Hirsch each scored unassisted goals in the 72nd and 77th minutes respectively.Ashley Klone picked up the win in goal for the Lady Blues collecting one save while facing five shots. Washburn attempted 20 shots with nine coming on goal.

BlueNotes:SeasonOpeners:The Lady Blues fell to 5-2 in their previous seven season openers with the losses coming in the 2008 opener in Hawaii to Hawaii Pacific in a 1-0 loss.OhHenry:Lauren Henry enters her sophomore season with seven goals and three as-sists for 17 points after her first season in a Lady Blues uniform. The 17 points was the second-best total by a freshman in school history as well as her seven goals.TaylorMade:Senior Ashley Taylor is the team’s leading returning scorer this season coming off her seven goal, five assist campaign from her junior season. She has scored 12 goals with 14 assists in her career having played in 66 matches with 30 starts includ-ing 20 last season.Kloneingoal:Junior goalkeeper Ashley Klone will need to find a way to stay healthy this season as she is the only keeper on the Lady Blues’ roster. She has compiled a 14-8-3 record in net for Washburn with eight shutouts and a goal against average of 0.96.Sicardbackinaction:Junior Danielle Sicard defender is penciled in as a defender after missing the final five matches of the season after suffering a knee injury. She earned second team all-MIAA honors despite missing nearly a quarter of the season.
