INTRODUCTION TO WARANA BAZAAR

 WARANANAGAR  Leadership of late Sahakarmaharshi Shri.

Tatyasaheb Kore. Shree Warana Co-operative Sugar Factory was

founded in the year 1956. Warana Bazar, the first consumer Co-

operative store was founded in the year 1976 and started functioning on 2nd April 1978.

Yearly turnover of Rs. 113 cores, 555 employees. Member’s strength of 20111 out of them 80% are

women. It has 2 big department stores and 55 branches &

3 franchies. Daily turnover of warana bazaar is more than Rs.

35 lakhs.

Warana Bazar has 24 different sections. 30,000 different types of goods. Almost 70 per cent of the goods are obtained

directly from the manufacturers and apex bodies like NCCF thus eliminating the middlemen.

Where direct purchases are not possible, goods are purchased from authorized dealers, stockists, and agents.

In order to get trained staff they have started a training centre under the name & style Vilasrao Tatyasaheb Kore Consumers Co-op. Training Centre in the year 1996.

Every year salesmen training programme of one month duration is conducted in the Centre.

NABARD & Shivaji University, Kolhapur has approved this programme.

First ten students of every batch are absorbed in Warana Bazar.

Employees who already are in service with various Co-op, stores in Maharashtra & Goa are eligible for admission in the above training programme.

FUTURE PLAN

PUNE/KOLHAPUR: Reliance Life Sciences is working with the Kolhapur-based Warna Agro for launching a mango-based drink in the market.

"We have signed an MoU with Reliance Life sciences. The formula has been developed jointly by Warna Agro and Reliance Life Sciences," said HN Desai, chief executive officer of Warna Agro.

According to the MoU, Warna Agro will manufacture the mango drink for Reliance and pack it in an aseptic packaging. "The company plans to manufacture 50,000 cartons of the drink every month," he said. But there is no clarity on the time of the launch.
