NEW DELHI, Feb 17: Days after the Rs 11,400 crore fraud at PNB shook the country, private sector City Union Bank today said it suf- fered three fraudulent remit- tances of nearly USD 2 million (about Rs 12.8 crore). Just like the fraud at Punjab National Bank (PNB), no entries of remittances were made in the ledgers of City Union Bank and transfers were pushed through the SWIFT financial platform. “During our reconciliation process on February 7, it was found out that 3 fraudulent remit- tances had gone through our SWIFT system to our corespon- dent banks which were not initiat- ed from our bank’s end. We imme- diately alerted the correspondent banks to recall the funds,” City Union Bank said in a regulatory filing on stock exchanges. Of the 3 fraudulent remittance, one remittance was made through Standard Chartered Bank, New York, to a Dubai based bank for USD 5,00,000 which was blocked immediately and was returned to City Union Bank, it said.(PTI) SHIMLA, Feb 17: Himachal Pradesh Government today decided to hold walk-in interviews for doctors to fill 200 vacant posts of medical officers (MBBS) in Health and Family Department on contractual basis. According to an official release, the step is taken to meet the shortage of doctors particu- larly in rural and far flung areas. The Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also decided to amend the policy on tendering bond money for MBBS doctors who pursue higher courses, MD/MS degree or diploma, super specialty - - DM/MCH courses and DNB courses --, Master Courses within and outside the state. It will be a major relief for MBBS doctors undergoing PG courses who were facing hardship in obtaining bank guarantees for their courses, the release said. It also approved deployment of two medical physicists and four radiotherapist technicians on outsource basis at Government Medical College, Tanda, to operationalise the sophisticated cancer treatment equipment available there. The Cabinet also decided to procure four pulses namely Dal Channa, Urad Sabut, Moong Sabut and Malka from National Co-operative Consumers Federation of India Ltd. (NCCF) under State Subsidized Scheme for procurement and distribution of pulses by revising the existing policy, provisions and method of procurement of pulses. HP State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd and NCCF will execute the MoU in this respect. It would help save Rs 2.63 crore per month only on account of pur- chase of pulses, the release said. The Cabinet gave its approval to strengthen HP Forest Ecosystem Climate Proofing Project being imple- mented in Chamba and Kangra districts with the assistance from the KFW Development Bank Germany. This project would cover 600 panchayats for minimizing and mitigating the negative impacts of climate change by increasing biodiver- sity and sustained income in rural areas through sustainable management of forest resources. The Rawat Cabinet gave its nod to upgrade Community Health Centre, Bagsaid, to 50 bed Civil Hospital in Mandi district along-with creation of 29 posts of various categories in the hospital. The Cabinet approved upgrading of Civil Hospital, Ani, in Kullu district to 100 bed along with cre- ation of 26 new posts of different categories.
