PROBLEM
Pervasive use of kerosene lanterns. The system had been passed down from generations as main source of lighting for off grid communities. Dangerous both for health and environment as it emits black carbon, leading cause of lung disease in rural marginalized areas. Also, may cause fire accidents for kerosene lanterns and candles. Sustaining cost is expensive for kerosene and other alternative light sources and logistics plays a big a problem for villages in far flung areas. Complexity in terms of design and usage of other alternative light sources. Hard to understand and some light sources are too complicated to operate.

BUSINESS MODEL (PARTNERSHIPS) We partner with NGOs, Foundations, CSRs and LGUs to support our campaign and donate lanterns to rural areas. We are currently in talks with several foundations and have found sponsors to some of our identified communities.
Found sponsors for 1,500+ lanterns to be distributed in 2018.

BUSINESS MODEL (RETAIL)
To date, we have more than 15,000+ signups from individuals interested to buy the SALt lamp from across the globe. We have also received inquiries from retail shops interested to distribute the SALt lamp.
In retail, we plan to sustain our advocacy of giving and donating lanterns by following “buy 1 give 1 to a family.” So for every 1 lantern purchased, we will donate 1 lantern to our identified community.
