The Stuart fac i l i ty opened in 1950 as a company operat ion

adjacent to Witham Field in Martin County. It init ially was

u t i l i z e d f o r F l i g h t T e s t O p e r a t i o n , a n d s a w i t s f i r s t

p r o d u c t i o n p r o g r a m s i n 1 9 6 3 .

S i n c e t h e i n t r o d u c t i o n o f t h e G a r r e t t T F E 7 3 1 t u r b o f a n

e n g i n e i n 1 9 7 2 , t h e s i t e h a s p e r f o r m e d l o n g - t e r m n a c e l l e

s u b c o n t r a c t s f o r a v a r i e t y o f c o m m e r c i a l b u s i n e s s j e t

The Stuart operation has been part of the 767 program since

its inception in 1979. Since 1983, the faci l ity has produced

nacelles and thrust reversers for the Gulfstream IV Series

executive jet. In 1991, the company signed a contract with

Boeing for production of inboard trai l ing-edge flaps for the

777 airl iner, the largest twinjet air l iner in service.

Today Stuart is a premier manufacturing faci l ity for both

composite and metal aircraft assemblies, and has the

equipment required for sheet metal, tool and machined part

fabrication. The faci l ity is also a l icensed FAA Repair

Station (VGMR471L) for commercial aircraft components,

and is Joint Aviation Authority certif ied.

In 2002, the door production for the Boeing 737, 747, 757 and

767, and the 747 f loorbeam l ines were transferred from

Perry, Ga., to Stuart. Approximately 160 people relocated to the
