We are fortunate in Johnson County to have well qualified candidates for County Supervisor and for the Iowa Legislature. I hope that many of you will come to our April 27 th forum for the Supervisor race and to the May 12 forum for the House District 77 candidate race to hear all of the candidates explain their priorities and positions. All forums are broadcast on local access Iowa City Channel 4, on Coralvision, and on North Liberty TV multiple times after the actual event. Being well informed about your voting options in the June 7 primary for supervisors and legislators is very important to help our area go forward in the future. The League of Women Voters USA will be holding our national convention in Washington D.C. in June, 2016. We are very happy to be sending two delegates from our local League – Syndy and Jim Conger. One item of business at this national convention is to elect leadership for the national League. Iowa’s League of Women Voters co-President Deborah Turner has been nominated to be a director on the National League Board. We strongly support Deb’s candidacy and think it would be wonderful to have an Iowa representative like Deb on the National Board. That has not happened since our own Pat Jensen served on the National Board from 1982-1986. With the League’s help, please stay engaged in the political process and Happy Spring everyone! Voter Services Mark your calendar for these important dates. Wednesday, April 27 Board of Supervisors Primary Race Candidate Forum for 3 seats Iowa City Council Chambers, 7-8:30pm. Address: 410 E. Washington Street Thursday, May 12 State Representative District 77 Primary Race Candidate Forum Coralville City Council Chambers, 7-8:30pm. Address: 1512 7th St There are 2 Democrats and 2 Republicans running. All candidates have been invited.
